We came to this place by accident (we wanted to go to the D'orient which was closed) and we were so happy this happened. It's very cosy and we were welcomed by the owners, such nice people! We were served a tasty appetiser and ordered a well seasoned Moroccan salad. Main courses were an exquisite salmon linguini and a delicious... More

If I remember correctly, this place is set at the end of a side street. With some great choices around, we chose to eat here TWICE as we knew it would be delicious. You need a yummy garauntee when you're travelling, I think. The owner was lovely and the main waitress was awesome - we compared manicures. Sounds silly, but... More

Despite al the great reviews, this was truly a disappointment. The staff was not friendly, especially the lady (she looks like she is the boss or manager) didn't even look at us, we felt unwanted there. We were never asked if we enjoyed our meal and when my mom ordered a glass of wine, and I ordered water the waiter... More

Fed up with tagines? You will not be disappointed with the food and service at this quirky, intimate place. We had dinner there one night, and it truly is like dining in a vault. The menu is simple, and complemented by the choice of Moroccan wines. Charming service from Madame. A very relaxing evening, and not expensive.

After you have tasted tagines, kebabs and couscous often enough, lovely though many of them are, it makes a pleasant change to reserve a table here. In fact the manager/owner is Swiss German and has a wife from Calabria but between them they arrange very good quality French food. We had a lunch and an evening meal here and both... More

Madame Lili greets you at the door..she is gentle, elegant and kind. The restaurant is decorated very carefully in colors, paintings, carpets and most of all one has the feeling that you are dining in a lovely lit and cozy underground vault, thus the name. The food is a welcome surprise....duck parmentier, carbonara with smoked samon, veloute' de legumes, pastilla... More

We had ddinner in this small restaurant after reading the Tripadvisor reviews and we were not disappointed. The place is small and clean, the menu simple but complete and the service fast and friendly. Prices more than honest. By the way in a place like Essaouira is not difficult to be a step up compared to the competition considering the... More

This restaurant right now is ranked #2 in Essaouria, run by the wife, while the husband runs the #1 which I could not try because warned by the waiter that the service was going to be slow since everybody had arrived pretty much at the same time. Good for them! many places would have you just sit and wait. This... More

we stayed in Essaouira for five nights. We ate here on the second night and loved it so much we came back for our last meal. The food was excellent on both occasions, monkfish tagine was so delicious we want the recipe, grilled sea bream with rosemary creme fraiche sauce also excellent, as was the kefta tagine. Starters of scallops... More

We had originally gone to the sister restaurant, "D'Orient et d'ailleurs", but it was fully booked. We went here instead and it was wonderful. The food was creative, tasty and very affordable. We had a crab and avocado salad along with a chicken pastilla to start. Both were superb. Mains were a kefta tagine and a duck and potato dish... More
