Although we knew we were supposed to dine al fresco by the docks, choosing our just caught seafood for immediate grilling, we were so mentally exhausted by our previous day in Marrakech that we just wanted to eat our lunch in peace, preferably with a bottle of wine. We found Dar Loubane (after reading a review in our Fodor's) and... More

having trudgece the streets for several days, we were on the lookout for good food, cheap (comparatively) and a resonable bottle of wine. This restaurant ticked all the boxes, and in a lovely setting. And the service was good too! Mucho recommended.

We ended our 3 week trip of Morocco in Essaouira and ate at Dar Loubane on our first night in the city. It was a welcome change to most of the Morocco places we had dined in on the rest of our trip. The older French couple who own it are lovely as was the sole meuniere and the chocolate... More

Lovely restaurant! Great setting in the courtyard of a riyad; a refreshing change from the normal tourist menus; delicious food; friendly, welcoming owners. Highly recommended!

The majority of restaurants in Essaouira sell pretty much the same food (tagine, cous cous, etc). The difference with this place, is that a lot more care has been placed in its preparation. I am not a big fan of savoury with with fruit - but I have to say their lamb with apricots was superb - the flavours were... More

The restaurant is within the courtyard of a Riad and has lots of authentic and quirky, fun decor. The food was delicious and value for money. The service was perfect and the restaurant is licensed which is a huge plus point as we found a lot of restaurants in this area do not serve wine.

I dined in Dar Loubane with a group of seven. A couple of us wanted to eat gamba's, which weren't available, but the owner made a phonecall and arranged them for us, even though we were obviously tourists staying in Essaouira only a short time. Food was good, the gamba's and chocolate mousse delicious, and the atmosphere in this homely... More

I'm a regular visitor to Essaouira and I always make sure I pay a visit to Dar Loubane. They have consistently maintained their high standards of quality. Favourite dishes I've been ordering for many years are the salade du preachers, briouates de crevettes, fracassee de crevettes (coco), and of course their unforgettable desserts: creme a l'orange and chocolate mousse. The... More

On a recent trip to Essaouira, I just had to keep going back to Dar Loubane. And I wasn't the only one. Many of the customers I saw there were also clearly on return visits. The food is excellent - from the entrees to the mains and on to the desserts, it seems you can't go wrong. Standout dishes for... More

Took 3 people with me. We stoppped at Dar Louban to check out the menu which was 1 of 3 restaurants we were interested in. We were looking at the menu and the owner came and took the menu from my hands. I have never had anything happen to me so rude We went to La Licorne instead and had... More
