We had the steak and the John Dore fish. Quite apart from the perfection of these two items, the mixed vegetables - ten different kinds - were perfectly cooked and delicious, and the free starter of home cooked breads and vegetables were an added bonus, also lovely. The wine too, delicious, if only one choice of house wine. The general... More

We came for dinner on our last evening in Morocco and ended up having our favorite meal in Morocco as well. From the terrific food, to the warm and funky ambiance (a great mix of mid-century modern and artsy Moroccan), to the killer selection of music to the warmth of the owner Abdellatif Rharbaoui, this was fun, delicious and interesting... We ate here one evening food was lovely well presented. Very generous portions, I had John Dory for my main course which was delicious, simply pan fried with garlic and lemon. No room for dessert unfortunately.

You must have dinner here! Elizir is so different from the traditional food you often find in Morocco. It was inventive, well cooked, well presented and absolutely delicious! The service was amazing, staff were so friendly. The menu is small, only a few dishes for starter main and desert but I believe this is why the quality of the food... More

Decor was really interesting. We were in a gorgeous little room with a log fire. Food was excellent but very rich and we couldn't finish everything! Worth a visit if you're after something a bit special.

There are newer and varied restaurants in Essaouira, some of them actually mimicking Elizir (e.g. One-up), others exploring equally interesting routes, but this is still my favorite after ten years of regular visits to the area. The original house was not dramatically altered when it was converted into a restaurant; most of the amazing early 1900s cement-based tiles, the doors... More

You have to book in advance as this place is very popular. It opens at 19:30 so we went there then to book a table for their first availability at 21:30. Well worth the wait. Food was delicious. nice house wine. friendly staff and there are plenty of curiosities to amuse the eyes. unlike any other restaurant we visited in... More

Trying hard to be different with 1960's memorabilia but average food and a bit boring. For the price needs to try harder on the menu.
