The decor was not very Moroccan. Evidently the owner loves 50s 60s memorabilia. It works though. And the food is touted as the best in Essaouira and I'm willing to bet that's true. More

Elizir opens at 7.30pm and fills up quickly. The restaurant has approximately 30 couverts and when we came in we had a table without reservation. It is a popular place you can tell. We spent 4 nights in Essaoira and in that time visited Elizir twice. The owner of the restaurant welcomed us back like long lost children. He seemed almost as glad to see us as I was to be reacquainted with Elizir's black cuttlefish risotto. Overall one of the best restaurants i've ever had the pleasure to visit. More
