Superb Moroccan Food with Excellent Service

This is a small, quiet restaurant, with the owner's excellent photographs on all the walls. The food is superb: the usual tagines, couscous, etc., but subtly spiced to perfection. A good range of meat, seafood and vegetarian. They also serve beer and wine (not cheap). The service was attentive but... read more

We have been travelling for a month in Europe and Morroco and this was the best meal that we have a eaten. The portion sizes are excellent and the steak just incredible. Cooked so well as was the vegetables that came with the meal. The owner and waiter was very supportive of our lack of French and explained each item... More

This restaurant was very quiet when I visited over Christmas (only myself and one other table occupied) but the quality of the food and service wasn't compromised. The waiter was attentive without being oppressive, and the food excellent, though the portion size was more than I could manage. I started with samosa-like vegetable briouate, followed by lamb meatballs in a... More

This is a very good place for those who want to taste authentic Moroccan food with a special fine extra nuance. We can definitely recommend the fish pastilla. Great atmosphere to chill after a busy day at the medina.

Arrived at the restaurant without reservation just after after a group of about 16 Scandinavians had arrived. We were still welcomed, served fairly quickly with our wine and a "bouche amuse" to keep us going. Our main order was taken after the large group had placed their's with much debate and questioning. Surprisingly, we were served almost at the same... More

Lovely meal here with friends on Sunday evening. The owner is very welcoming and explains the menu. Good choices on the menu, not a big menu but tended to find that with most of the restaurants here in Essaouria and could always find something for everyone. I would say it's mid price range, definitely an evening meal place, also serves... More

Food was fantastic, brilliant presentation, a very professional waiter (owner of the restaurant?). Highly recommended.

Very unassuming from the outside but inside so cosy and relaxed. Service was excellent and the food was conversation interruptingly delicious. Really should be higher rated. I would recommend the calamari and prawn gratin. The steak was excellent too. You're spoilt for choice in Essaouira. You can point at a live fish in the sea and have it cooked right... More

Loved the place. Fantastic food, which was well supplied with a journey of wine. Owner was very hands on, and there was a great little book telling the story of the restaurant coming into being. Off the beaten track, but a lovely, cosy place to eat with great food.
