Comfortable chill out, awesome rice and one of the best ikan bilis

Dear Snlde, Thank you very much for your review and feedback. It is refreshing when someone notices the little details - our ikan bilis is something we are proud off. As you know, there are so many grades, but this is something we will NOT compromise on! The ginger beer you were referring to is a Fentiman's. It is imported... More

JAWI HOUSE Café & Gallery at 85 Armenian Street (known locally as Lebuh Armenian) is a halal establishment serving authentic Jawi Peranakan cuisine, which is apparently not that common even in a gastronomic paradise like Penang. It is open daily (except Tuesdays) from 11am till 10pm; last order is at 9pm. JAWI HOUSE is situated in a historically rich and... More

We went there to visit simply because other reviewers rated it highly. While the building was interesting to view (which has been made into a mini museum and art gallery), the food however was simply disgusting! We bought various takeaway dishes including desserts and when we ate them at our hotel, they all tasted awful! We were so looking forward... More

We really enjoyed the main dishes, prawn rice and lamb stew, but the best was the red velvet gallets we had for desert.

Had lunch with friends, Jawi house cafe gallery sits along a historic road, well maintained. The service was good, and the food they served very tasty.

We came here for lunch after visiting the Khoo Kongsi, having read some of the reviews. We weren't disappointed; the food was really outstanding. Biryani, nasi tomato with rendang and roti jala with chicken curry were all perfectly cooked and tasty, well spiced without being super hot. My only complaint is that the teh tarik needed to be more frothy!

Dear Penangites, Thank you very much for your positive review. We are grateful you visited us, and we hope to see you again. We take note of your suggestion on the teh tarik. The next time you drop by, you can expect the best teh tarik in town. See you soon! Jawi House More

Delicious food. Lovely friendly service. Added bonus of an interesting art gallery upstairs in a beautiful setting. Great ambecience. Highly recommend a visit. Feels like you've been invited into a warm Malay house for a delicious feast. Will try and visit again soon. Highly recommend the biryani.

Met a couple of friends there for lunch. Seems to get very busy from about 1 pm. Menu not extensive but what was offered was tasty and a good price. Service good.

The service here was excellent, despite the restaurant being very packed at lunch. As there was a big group who arrive ahead of us... the briyani was sold out and we were unable to try it. The service staff was very apologetic about it and we were able to change the prawn briyani to lemuni rice:). These were some nicely... More

The place to go for a tasty briyani meal (lots to choose from, whether you like chicken, mutton, prawn or beef). Restaurant is small and quaint, located in the heritage area of the city. Friendly staff. Has a museum above on the upper floor.
