Expensive but must try

We went to China House at about 830pm. As we were quite full, we only has dessert. I had read the reviews before coming. Overall service was ok. What you'd expect from a bustling place. They take your orders and go. The waitress didn't say much and she sounded more Filipina than Malaysian. Its a... read more

No amount of great food can make up for the appalling service this place has. Rude-borderline screaming staff makes it a total turn off. Funnily, the giant menu at front door belongs to the canteen, the restaurant at back. Upon inquiring about the difference in the menus inside and outside, the staff simply pounced on us. I understand it was... More

I've been here for the cakes and coffee and so far it's been nothing spectacular. You can definitely find better cakes and coffee else where, although, the dessert table that you'll see upon entering their premise is quite a sight to behold and will likely excite dessert fans. Also, generally the ambience and deco of the entire place is pretty... More

Choosing Desserts here is always a problem as there are so many mouth-watering cakes. Think the popularity of the cafe has gotten into the service staffs, as table service can be greatly improved. Staffs are generally so gloomy, pissed or tired looking. Otherwise the ambiance of the cafe is nice. Remember to take time to venture to the back of... More

China House occupies a traditional peranakan house that has long feature and you will not miss it if you do your mural art hunting in Penang. Saturday morning when we passed by was quiet and you could have a peaceful relaxing brunch. When we came at night for dessert, it was packed but we didn't have to wait long to... More

Besides the eclectic mix of decor, the food is awesome! And my Malaysians friends who are with me and the same thoughts! I will be back!

I came here for cakes and coffee but was totally disappointed with their customer service. Our waiter was this tall asian man who wasn't smiley and was quite abrupt. We were told by this waiter that we could sit inside the restaurant area as the main area was quite busy. We just had lunch and came here for desserts and... More

Many thanks for bringing this to our attention. I shall take it up with our staff to ensure we dont come across in this sharp manner in the future, sincere apologies for this. Our menus do state one order of food or drink per person but I think the message needs to be communicated in a friendly manner of course.... More

We stopped here after walking around looking at the street art in the local area. We were very lucky finding such an amazing place. The range of soft drinks and coffee was excellent. I had a homemade pink lemonade which was so refreshing after walking the streets for a couple of hours. The range and quality of the cakes was... More

we went in through the bar side at first..and since we were there for coffee and cake, the staff told us to go to the other end. It was a 100 m long shophouse, really unique.. A display of about 2 dozens of cakes wow-ed me..Had an awesome banana cake (cant remember the name)..Went back for breakfast the next morning,... More
