Nice Ambience with so-so food

Was walking around Georgetown hunting for murals under hot sun, so decided to take a teabreak at Chinatown. The deco and settings are very warm and cosy. My friend and I visited China House when we were in Penang in late November as it was recommended to us and I am so glad that we went there. It's definitely a must see if you are in Penang. Had a lovely lunch there and autographed and hung a cardboard coffe cup which they have hanging in the cafe... More

Each time, we are in Penang, we stop here and this visit was without disappointment. Food was better, cakes were excellent as before and service was more attentive. The whole experice was good and we shall be back again. The setting is still the same in shop house witth nice decor and feel good atmosphere. We love it! Keep it... More

I went to China House for dinner last night, didn't plan to go but place down the road told me to try it so I did! Really nice inside, very narrow but I thought surroundings where good. I had the Japanese chicken, I asked the waiter before ordering as very fussy with chicken and only really light "white" chicken. When... More

China House are actually 2 houses joined, so the product is a very long narrow corridor for a restaurant. So the environment is special, very well decorated. Penang has a wonderful street food, but from time to time, it is good to go to a place where you can use a nife, because there is one in the table. Something... More

We were pleased to find this place as it's interesting and different (for Asia). However be aware that service and tax aren't included in the prices and we were waiting 20 minutes to order, and pay and get our change. Even though it looks great I doubt we will come again.

I recommend this place if you like delicious coffee in a hipster atmosphere. I didn't try anything off the menu (besides the coffee) but it looked like there was a huge variety of options, if a little on the pricey side. The coffee was fantastic though, so well worth a visit just to get your morning dose. There are also... More

We saw China House on tv and were also recommended to visit by a friend. Finding it is the first challenge as unless you are looking up, you might miss the signage. Inside is interesting and as described. There is nicer artwork on the heritage streets in my opinion, and although the dessert table looks very inviting the cost of... More
