We saw China House on tv and were also recommended to visit by a friend. Finding it is the first challenge as unless you are looking up, you might miss the signage. Inside is interesting and as described. There is nicer artwork on the heritage streets in my opinion, and although the dessert table looks very inviting the cost of... More

We dropped by for snacks during tea time and boy, it has the right ambience for a perfect tea time. Cakes and ice creams are simply yummy and we stayed for hours relaxing and people watching.

The interior of this restaurant is actually quite nice and interesting. Our food was good but not great. Our server, a very polite and almost shy Asian young man, was disappointing. China House luckily (for us anyway) has a young man from Melbourne, Australia who picked up the slack. He was excellent. We had the local curry platter for RM58... More

Prior to visiting Penang, several people from Kuala Lumpur told us that we had to stop at this bar/cafe/restaurant, saying it was one of their favorite places in Penang. The China House front cafe area offers wonderful coffees and breakfast food, as well as cake. I had the veggie wrap and it was absolutely delicious. It was a great dose... More

Luckily we made a reservation beforehand, it sure was crowded on the Friday night! When we reach the entrance, we thought it was a small place and we are so wrong! The restaurant actually extended very deep in with many rooms and a courtyard and every room is unique! We booked a table at the wine bar and luckily it... More

Everything about this is great with two exceptions. The great news is it's concept which is a railroad of eat and drink and shop stores in the same building. It even has a "pool" but I'd stay out of it if I were you. Our food was nothing to write home about but I did like the happy hour wine... More

Thankyou for your honest comments about ChinaHouse. I would like to defend ourselves slightly here. Firstly the " pool" is not a swimming pool- we have never advertised as such and we dont allow people in it.............so this is a little misleading.......I apologise for the smell you experienced----we do not use an old bucket removal-----we have on some days over... I’ve been to ChinaHouse twice, it is basically a traditional compound of 3 buildings linked by an open air courtyard and separated into 14 spaces including shops, galleries, cafes, a restaurant, a bakery and live music. It has more than 20 different photo-shoot locations. The centre of ChinaHouse is the bakery table, with approximately 30 different kinds of cakes daily... More
