Hidden Penang Jewel

Read the reviews on this restaurant. Decided to try this place. At first, I thought I will have a problem with parking. It turns out that there is parking just around the corner for a fee of RM$3.00. We ordered about 9 dishes for 10 pax. All were very good especially the char siew. We also had the... read more

In a city renown for food, we were surprised to find thousand coffee shops rather than restaurants. On the evening we ended up in this place, we were hungry and exhausted and the food here literally brought our spirit back. A long list of delicious Chinese food, a fairly spartan crowded place with good and efficient service though: pick your... More

Homemade Chinese food, very authentic, very busy and very professional. We were passing by to Chulia street and couldn't miss the cue of people outside and full tables inside so we have returned next day. It's definitely worth trying and you will be waiting a while for your food but it's definitely worth it!

Highly recommended on loney planet and we were not let down! We tried over 10 dishes, all delicious and I dont think you can go wrong with anything on the menu! The place was jam packed with lines on the street. They want to turn the tables as fast as possible so you're given a number and the menu while... More

What do you write about a place that everyone says is great and a must-visit? Well, I continue to say that it lives-up to its reputation especially for a mixed menue of Hakka, Cantonese and Straits Chinese food.

It's been 3.5 years since I was last at Tek Sen and was very much looking forward to returning. I was not disappointed!! Food was as excellent as ever, we ordered a range of dishes to share including a double cooked pork which was particularly good. This time I was travelling with my parents who had never been to anywhere... More

Of course you can eat more cheaply elsewhere in Penang but the food here is delicious - particularly the duck with ginger and the pork with chilli. Also if you haven’t tried it before, do try the nutmeg squash. The nutmeg is grown locally at Balik Pulau and the juice is delicious and not always easy to find in Georgetown

This establishment lies within the UNESCO Heritage Site and has gained a reputation for great Hainanese food. They open for lunch between 12 noon - 3:00pm and then for dinner between 6:00 - 9:00pm...closed on Tuesdays. We were a party of 7 and we ordered 9 dishes. They were all tasty! They serve cold beers which is always a plus... More

Been there always when they have not moved to this new place. It's was just few doors away. Visited twice after they moved and prices has increased. Menu choices also added alot. It has becomed a tourists area instead an eating place for the locals where it used to be last time. Overall the food are good just to me... More
