Good & Fresh

Travelled with a bunch of foodie friends to Penang for a weekend getaway. We ordered 9 dishes + fish maw soup. We had steamed pomfret (teochew style), honey pork, prawn paste chicken, grilled prawns, eggs with onions, assam stingray + vegetables. Must say that the fish was very fresh (my... read more

Honey pork was obviously a winner and... More

At at this restaurant on two occasions and was not disappointed. Busy most times but the wait for a table is worth it as staff are efficient and food quality is good. Recommend the fish Assam Pedas.

Recommended by hotel reception and we where not disappointed. Well patronised by the local community, large selection via menu, daily specials (unfortunately in chinese). Not a flash eating place, open fronted with metal covered stools and tables, but what food. A good crowd we never had to wait for a table, prompt and friendly service. They serve a lunch and... Very good business. Have to q all the time! Perhaps is excellent for tourists due to the recommendation from social media. But definitely not for me ( penangites)... In Penang there is plenty good Chinese foods. Better taste n price.. For example soonlai at batu lancang, tsunami village at tanjung bunga, sunshine at tanjung bunga..

This is the best Chinese food I have ever had! I had an aubergine dish cooked in a clay pot with fried rice and it was absolutely delicious. The place is full of mainly locals, which is always a good sign. Don't be put off if there is a queue, the food is so worth the wait!

The queues are long for dinners. Homestyle type of food but some hit and misses. The assam fish is good but they'll try to push for you to use the more expensive type of fishes.

The food is undoubtedly still good especially the Penang style ikan masam pedas and their roasted pork. But what kills it is the lady who takes our orders at the entrance. She seems specially more attentive n more patient with the mak salleh foreigners customers than with local customers ! Very impatiently rumbling on with her list of menu off... More

Beyond the Hawker fare that Penang is known, if you need a simple Chinese dinner with rice and dishes, this is it. Reasonably priced, but not so elderly or child friendly with its metal stools and lack of child utensils. Still the older Chinese folks will be satisfied by its quality of its food. As a tourist I felt rushed... More

Thiis is d kind of food i grew up eating...wholesome and delicious! Unfortunately I hv not inherited mom or dad's skills in d kitchen so am constantly in search of home cooked style food. There are many choices but I would recommend d steamed fish, in any variation. Soups, especially d ones with pork ribs. Veges, fried just with garlic... More
