Every week on Fridays especially, I would drive 45 mins from my place just to have breakfast or lunch here. The service is super steady and fast. The food taste marvelous with all the spices mixed together creating that some sort of "Chennai" feeling being there. Don't miss it. The place is clean and the food is healthy!!!

Tucked away in the middle of Little India IN George town and walking distance from Fort Cornwallis is New Woodlands Hotel. A branch of the New Woodlands Hotel from Chennai, India this restaurant offers the same yummy south indian fare one would find back home in Chennai, India. The Meals platter/Thali is sumptuous and also quite a value for the... More

My husband and I came here on our trip to George Town, and came back twice while in town! The lunch sets at 6 ringgit are a fantastic deal, but our favorite dishes were the dosas, uthapam, and the famous mango lassis. The Lonely Planet is right- they are the thickest in town, and the best I've ever had. Don't... More

This place "creates" amazing vegetarian Indian cuisine. The variety of dishes is astounding and at the same time, extremely cheap. If you go there, try the vegetable samosas with accompanying sambals. Be warned however, that the menu is limited to what time of the day you are there, and is almost impossible to understand. Well worthwhile getting a staff member... More

At first we were a little hesitant due to the exterior of the restaurant, but boy are we glad we ate here. The food is absolutely amazing and authentic (we went back a couple times!). Service was average and a little slow, but the food definitely made up for it. Try their desserts for sure!

Not the best food I ever had, but definitely good and affordable food! Clean place, but bring a sweater: the airco is set on 'refrigerator-mode'. Worth a visit if you don't want to spend to much money on some proper Indian food!

Woodlands is among the best Indian vegetarian restaurant in Penang. Situated on Penang St, the restaurant can easily be missed as it has a discreet entrance. On the same row, are many Indian restaurants as well. It serves mouth watering thosai, rawa, idly as well as complete veg set meals for breakfast (8am -12.00), lunch and dinner. We had paper... Quality vegan/vegetarian food with real indian tastes. The lassie is simply tasty and there are many different dishes you can try and share. Take your time to have lunch over here, it's worth it!
