An iconic Ipoh coffee shop

Xin Quan Fang is one of the most famous curry mee vendors in Ipoh and naturally it serves Ipoh-style curry mee which is a little different from those found elsewhere in Malaysia (e.g. it doesn't use much coconut milk in the curry). Another thing it does a little differently is that you can order... read more

This is easily the BEST bowl of curry mee that I've had. Food wise, you can opt for dry curry noodles or with curry soup base. Noodle choices are, rice vermicelli or yellow mee. I prefer the dry curry noodles with the sides served separately (please refer below link on how to order in Cantonese). Also, there is a "magic"... More

Most locals don't come here coz it's crowded with tourists most of the time. I went on a Wed morning at 9:30 am. Friend of mine who met me there told me she had to queue for a table, and then wait to be asked to order - about 30 min all in and considered way below average waiting time.... More

This restaurant was recommended by a local Malaysian Chinese called Francis who operates a medical herbal tea shop. He also said that going to this restaurant (the sign wrote Xin Quan Fang 新泉芳) earlier in the morning. My wife and I were lucky to get a table at around 8:30am without waiting. We ordered 2 bowls of curry noodles with... More

We were recommended to try the curry noodles at the Xin Quan Fang coffee shop, which we understood was previously located opposite and nearby the police station. As advised, when we arrived there was the usual wait for an empty table. Not long we seated and ordered our standard bowls of curry mee and noodles with chicken pieces and barbecued... More

I read about this place on a food blog before I ever left the states and had it highlighted on my map as 'must try.' Although I had quite a few places listed, this one stands out as my absolute favorite. In 24 hours I ate here twice, and even ordered a portion 'takeaway'. The older woman who took my... More

My husband and I went for curry mee on a Monday, late morning. It was jam packed. We had to wait awhile, but we enjoyed sitting and watching all of the action. The curry mee was delicous and well worth the wait!

After reading the recommendations for this eatery on TripAdvisor, I gave it a try while in Ipoh. I arrived a Friday morning at about 8am, and was lucky to find a seat at a table. I waited at least 15-20 minutes to get the curry noodles (curry mee), since so many others were ahead of me. That was fine, since... More

Are you kidding? This is an institution! Affectionately know as Balai Polis Ka Lei Mai Fun, or Ma Ta Liu Ka Lei Mai Fun, Chuen Fong wins hands down as the best curry noodles in the world! It's a tourist magnet for Ipoh as well. I drive all the way from Singapore for over 6 hours just to eat it.... More

As usual, restaurant full of crowd even in early morning (8am+), it take about 1/2 hour queue to my turn (lucky coz i'm alone, share other people table & her q, thanks the lady coz for saving my time). Although i'm in Ipoh more than 10years, but this the first time i'm here b'coz of this scenario, I hate waiting...(they... More
