Probably the best curry mee?

Xin Quan Fang curry mee is also known as the "police station curry mee" among the locals as it used to be located at the direct opposite of the police station along Jalan Sultan Iskandar (used to be Hugh Low Street). It's the most famous curry mee in Ipoh for as far as I can remember. It used to... read more

This restaurant has been around for many years. It was previously located opposite the police station and has since moved to this new location, which is opposite the previous place. I have visited this restaurant (at both locations) many times for their famous curry mee, which is popular amongst the locals and visitors. I arrived at about 9.30am on a... More

The Restoran Xin Quan Fang is situated diagonally across the Police station at the new town part of Ipoh. According, it serves one of the best curry mee around. As we were on a working trip in Ipoh, we opt to skip our hotel’s complimentary breakfast, and decided to have the curry mee for our breakfast here. We reached the... More

For lovers of curry mee, this is the to go to shop in Ipoh. The curry is thick and without coconut milk (just the way I like it) and the noodles are springy and tender. The ingredients are recommended to be ordered separately as it comes with a different bowl of chile paste which I found to be rather interesting.... More

Xin Quan Fang is one of the most famous curry mee vendors in Ipoh and naturally it serves Ipoh-style curry mee which is a little different from those found elsewhere in Malaysia (e.g. it doesn't use much coconut milk in the curry). Another thing it does a little differently is that you can order the noodles and fillings separately. So... More

This is easily the BEST bowl of curry mee that I've had. Food wise, you can opt for dry curry noodles or with curry soup base. Noodle choices are, rice vermicelli or yellow mee. I prefer the dry curry noodles with the sides served separately (please refer below link on how to order in Cantonese). Also, there is a "magic"... More

Most locals don't come here coz it's crowded with tourists most of the time. I went on a Wed morning at 9:30 am. Friend of mine who met me there told me she had to queue for a table, and then wait to be asked to order - about 30 min all in and considered way below average waiting time.... More

This restaurant was recommended by a local Malaysian Chinese called Francis who operates a medical herbal tea shop. He also said that going to this restaurant (the sign wrote Xin Quan Fang 新泉芳) earlier in the morning. My wife and I were lucky to get a table at around 8:30am without waiting. We ordered 2 bowls of curry noodles with... More

We were recommended to try the curry noodles at the Xin Quan Fang coffee shop, which we understood was previously located opposite and nearby the police station. As advised, when we arrived there was the usual wait for an empty table. Not long we seated and ordered our standard bowls of curry mee and noodles with chicken pieces and barbecued... More

I read about this place on a food blog before I ever left the states and had it highlighted on my map as 'must try.' Although I had quite a few places listed, this one stands out as my absolute favorite. In 24 hours I ate here twice, and even ordered a portion 'takeaway'. The older woman who took my... More
