considering the cafe has been around like forever.. the chicken chop is their specialty... only thing i don't like is the limited tables and the long queue especially during lunch or the weekends... other than that the food is good... the quality and potion has remained the same since i can remember.

It Roo didn't fail the honor of being "the best chicken chop in JB" back in 90s and 2000s. However, their chicken chop is just mediocre nowadays. Their not so famous "wah tan hor" is better than their chicken chop in my opinion. Current black pepper sauce was kinda dull in comparison with their past glorious days. Wah tan hor... More

It's like taking a step back in time. The decor, the style and even the way the food was served and plated does bring back memories... late 70s, early 80s. Had a nice fried chicken chop that was well done. Will surely return for more the next time I visit Johor Bahru.

Must try the fried chicken chop which is the real deal. The grilled version is simply not good with disappointing sauce. Love the home made potato wedges.

It Roo Cafe is famous for their Chicken chop and other local dishes such as fried rice, fried noodles and etc. they sell typical drinks in Johor such as Sirap Bandung (Ros syrup with evaporated milk). This is where travelers can find local taste but at the same time enjoying the fast and efficient service. The restaurant is snuggled in... More

Always try their chicken chop, reminded me on my mum's cook when young. Can't miss, even their Hainanese dishes - fried rice, hailam noodles.

Heard much about this place, especially reviews that claim it has the best Hainanese chicken chop in J.B. We had very high expectations, especially since it was recommended by this site. We ordered a grilled chicken chop and it was ok. Just ok. I understand that the potatoes and coleslaw weren't supposed to be fantastic, because they merely accompany the... More

We arrive at 9 but they said almost closed. For me, they can gain more profit on weekend. Food is okay and waiters are friendly but at the end they more less courtesy. Maybe they already to close. Love the atmosphere, vintage style are the most attractive even the shop size are small and cramp. Overall the food and environment... More

As other reviewers have pointed out, best Malaysian Hainanese "Western" chicken chop this side of the Causeway, and probably on both sides of the Causeway! Good food at good prices. In an old & touristy part of town. Parking might be an issue.
