Description: This is an authentic Italian restaurant in Almaty. Ingredients are flown in from Italy and elsewhere. The pastas are made on site and are exquisite. The service is impeccable. I had pappardelle with a porcini mushroom sauce that was rich and fabulous. My husband had a steak with a peppercorn curry sauce. Salad, two entrees, three glasses of Chianti, and two desserts cost $175.

There is a very famous company (Findus) that makes a pre-cooked forzen dishes of spaghetti. They are good if you are not able to cook Italian and7or if you came back home late and you want to eat a good spaghetti dish, but you have no time to prepare them. Borgo Antico seemed to me to use 99% those kind... More

I think Borgo Antico offers nothing really special - food is OK, but not really delicious. I have heard a lot about this place that it was so good, but couple of times I had lunches and dinners - nothing special. And it's overpriced in my opinion, both food and wines.

They have a superb wine card and the whole place is designed and furninished to very good standard. The pricing is very high, you will get better prices in a lot other italian places in Almaty but... We went to this restaurant based on the recommendation of a friend who lives in Almaty. The restaurant imports its ingredients from Italy and elsewhere to ensure authenticity in their dishes. The pastas are made in house. I had pappardelle with porcini mushroom sauce and my husband had a steak with a peppercorn/curry sauce. Both were fabulous. The price for... More
