Fantastic traditional Japanese food, served in small dishes and boxes. We loves the grilled eel and sashimi. There are also some chicken options. Everything was tasty, but not overly salty. For two set meals and sake, it costed 6000 yens. We went in after a long day of walking and we were feeling cold. We were happy to find the... More

We enjoyed everything in this restaurant: the fantastic Japanese food, the very professional service and the restaurant itself very traditional with Japanese lounges and tables. The price was also very good and not so expensive. Very good option in Nara.

We wandered round Nara looking for somewhere to eat. At first it was difficult to get beyond the large number of budget izakayas - we wanted something with a little bit more luxury for a special meal. Then we found this delightful restaurant in a beautiful traditional wooden Japanese building. The dining areas were lovely tatami rooms - with space... More

Restaurant is in a nice traditional japanese house. Service is lovely, they do not speak a lot of english but have an english menu with pictures so no problem to order. They offer a variety of eel dishes, so if you are an eel lover this is the place for you. Also the other dishes were really nice. We liked... More

Excellent & friendly service. Nice old Japanese Inn. Surprising that noone mentions that their speciality is eel. Nice walk out south down the 'Burlington Arcade' of Nara beyond the usual tourist haunts.

Loved this place. Delicious food (and some interesting translations in the menu!). The meal sets are very filling and beautifully presented. This restaurant is a couple of minutes south of the long arcade street, so if you are staying in the old town part of Nara it's an easy walk. The setting was atmospheric - very traditional - and the... More

I wandered into this restaurant not really knowing what to expect (I don't speak Japanese) but I was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is located at the southern end of the pedestrian street/mall that runs south from the Kintetsu Nara station, Machi-dono dori. Although none of the hostesses or servers spoke English, they did have an English language menu. There was... More
