We wanted to try eel so decided to visit this place based on the reviews we read here. We needed to remove our shoes inside the restaurants and tables are sunk inside the floor with a heated mat placed under your feet - a nice touch. Waitresses were very friendly and an English menu is provided with various set meals... More

I asked our guide to take us to a place for a quiet and enjoyable lunch. What a nice place. We arrived after the business men had concluded their lunch and departed. The atmosphere was quiet, calm and restful. Everything was clean and neat, including the bathrooms. The service and the food was very good. My wife and I both... More

A nice place with sunken tables and a friendly staff. The price is right and the food is good. Try the eel dishes popular in this area.

We ended up here through trip advisor and we didn't regret it. Good food (check out the eel) in a nice atmosphere. Sit on the ground with typical Japanese music on the back ground. You could say authentic with a modern twist.

We chose to have lunch at Edogawa because of all of the positive comments made by so many contributors, and as soon as we were seated understood why it has been rated it so highly. The service was excellent. The waitresses were friendly and gracefully efficient. I had a rice and unagi bowl that came with a clear soup and... More

We came to the restaurant because it was the best rated in nara. The eel was no as special as expected and the rest is like a common menu in japan. I would recommwnd other restaurants.

You won't be disappointed, eel was delicious, and ambiance was a flashback to what one would have experienced even a few hundred years ago, with traditional Japanese seating, sliding doors, and music. If in Nara for two nights, would highly recommend this as one of the dinner choices. Was great with young kids.

I celebrated my girlfriend’s birthday here, and both of us ordered the famous eel meal. The pirce of my meal there with my girlfriend worked out to be around 5,000 Yen for the both of us. Good atmosphere with Japanese style seating, and you would have to remove shoes before entering the compound and wear their slippers. Staff speaks basic... More

We went to this restaurant based off of reviews and were not disappointed. Originally a bit put off because there was only one other group there. However it had great food, presentation, and environment. The staff had minimal English but this was not a barrier due to English menus. Price was 75USD for 3 people.

Based on Tripadvsier reviews, decided to give this restaurant a try being a bit more upmarket than and specialising in eel. Formal Japanese seating in traditional environment Had good choice of set lunch. Would recommend to those who want to try the eel in formal, traditional settings. Don't forget to remove slippers (provided), when sitting down to your table.....
