Seems to be the place to go to in Nara

After a day of walking in nara, we came here for lunch and yes there are long queues and we probably waited for half an hours around 2pm. Popular for its iron rice pots cooked over the fire, this was sure a satisfying meal. The rice is cooked to perfection, its very similar to a chinese hotpot but... read more

We saw that this restaurant was specialized for kamameshi so, we decided to try and we were not disappointed. We arrived around 11:45am and we waited 15min. I ordered ebi kamameshi set (shrimp) and my husband ordered nara specialty kamameshi set (shrimp, crab, conger eel). Each set including miso soup, rice and pickles. The kamameshi came in a iron pot... More

The meal tastes really good. There is English instruction that teaches you how to eat it in the best way. However, it is really popular that we went there at the opening time and it was already full and we needed to wait for 1 hr to get inside. But I felt it really worth waiting.

Queue at 10.30am. While waiting, staff will take your order. When shop open 11am, you will be seated provided there's available seat for "first round". It's a very small restaurant with limited seat. Maybe 30 seats? Then it's another 40mins for meal to arrive. I waited total 70mins. Had high expectation reading blogs and reviews. Sadly, the bland food did... More

After exploring Nara Park and some temples, we wanted to have lunch before heading back to Osaka. There is a list of nearby restaurants at Nara Park and since our son had already read up about the wonderful reviews on Shizuka, we decided to give it a try. Arriving at the restaurant 10 minutes before 12 noon, we saw a... More

志津香釜飯是奈良必來名店,但是來之前要先放下心中的期望。 This store is probably the most famous store that lots of people wanna visit when they come to Nara. Just don't expect to much when you come. 釜飯排隊人多是因為他需要燉煮,米飯香氣在打開鍋蓋那一剎那香氣四溢,食材新鮮,小菜的味道極好。 The rice needs time to boil, that's why so many people needs to wait. It small so good when you open the cover. Food is fresh and the pickle is so... More

Recommended by our Japanese friend from Nara, this has to be the best restaurant around judging by the queue outside. We sat at a traditional table sitting cross legged on cushions(conventional tables also available).Miso soup and traditional rice meal was good value and very tasty. Not rushed even though still a long queue outside.

Okay first of all, please bear in mind I am someone who likes my food tasty and savoury perhaps even a little unhealthy. I had high hopes for this place, not just because of the positive reviews, but also the beautiful looking dish when it was served. HOWEVER, the food was simply too...bland! I ordered the mix set with chicken... More

Waited in drizzling rain for over an hour, because it was busy, rice was tasty but the kamameshi didn't have the infusion of the shrimp or crab as expected from all the rave reviews. Had compared it to the meal two days before at kurama onsen which also was chicken kamameshi with mountain veggies and hands down, was better and... More
