excellent small place - great value and some of the best food we had

Lovely small little place - maybe 20 seats in all of which a handful at the bar. Set menus on offer but we chose individual plates. Highlights were scallops, prawns on a hot grill and wagyu steak pieces. All cooked on the teppan in front of the bar. Also had a very nice malt beer (suntory... read more

Food in Japan is of an incredibly high standard across the board. Every single restaurant we have gone to has served brilliant food - but Teppan Ku-Ya has taken the cake so far. We had a very reasonably priced set menu, consisting of six courses, which was absolutely incredible. A combination of perfectly cooked food and amazing flavours have made... More

We tried the set menus, with butter fried scallops, wagyu beef, garlic fried rice, black sesame ice cream, miso soup etc etc etc and everything was delicious! Very reasonably priced too, and in a lovely environment. If you can sit at the bar, do so. Enjoy!

The yagyu beef is ... There are no words to tell how good it is!! And they serve it with wasabi and delicous sauces and grilles vegetables.... It melts in your mouth. The takoyaki, the salads, the black sesame ice cream... One of the best food we've had in Japan : you must go there!! And the staff and cook... More

Thanks to the tripadvisor reviews, we decided to have dinner at this place. It is small and informal, but the food is flabbergasting. Definately a place ypu should ge to!

Found this via a Trip Advisor review (thank you!). Lovely, friendly staff. English menu with somewhat limited but uniformly delicious offerings. Liked it so much we tried to go back another night but it was full. The chef was apologetic...we were sad!

Fabulous little place with really great food. Small plates, so you can try most options on the menu. English menu does not have all the items available, but if you challenge your Japanese skills, you might be able to taste a real gem, such as Tonpeiyaki. Recommend for a bit more casual, no fuss dining experience.

We visited this small restaurant on the recommendation of other reviews on this site and also because of its convenient location to Okayama Koraku hotel. Service was very good, food was beautifully presented, very tasty and there was a choice of 2 set menus or a la carte (with English menu). Sit at the counter if possible to watch the... More

Sat at the counter for a delightful teppanyaki style meal ordered after perusing their clear and simply written English menu, provided when we sat down. Pricing very reasonable for the quality on offer. Ate ourselves to a standstill for about 5000 yen which included two large bottles of beer.
