We came to this restaurant according to a lonely planet opinion. We had a 4.000 yen course and having been in Japan for some days the quality was not as good as expected. Too expensive, bad taste dishes. Not even the gelato was good. Very disappointing, would not recommend at all.

We asked some friends and someone I met today for the first time and a number of people recommended Itaru. We came we ate and it was great! Stuffed ourselves with fish, mountain vegetable tempura and nihonshu.

We had a wonderful evening at Itaru, thanks to the people who surrounded us at the counter. Everyone was friendly and fun (Japanese tourists from Tokyo and Nagoya) and made the meal a real experience, even though we didn't like the food very much. Grilled local fish was tasty but we didn't really like much else. The people around us... More

We visited this restaurant on the strength of trip advisor reviews and the recommendation of the lovely lady at our ryokan. We hadn't booked and on arrival were told that we could be accommodated in half an hour. We returned and were waiting inside the restaurant when 2 other parties, locals without bookings arrived. They were seated immediately and the... More

We ate here on a recent visit to Kanazawa as part of a holiday in Japan. The food was really good and there was a nice relaxed atmosphere in the restraint. As visitors to Japan from the UK we were made to feel really welcome here as we were elsewhere in the country. Despite the language barrier we had a... More

In this restaurant we had the best Izakaya on our 2.5 weeks trip through Japan. We were amazed by the nice atmosphere and the superb taste of each of the dishes. The chef was very helpful and friendly. As for the food, we particularly recommend the Sashimi, the fried tofu, the grilled horse mackerel and the green tea pudding.

We had such a great meal here, we returned the following night. The staff were wonderful - we can't read Japanese, but they had a limited English menu and explained things and made suggestions for us. We loved everything we ate - the seafood was super-fresh, beautifully presented, and simply delicious. I don't think we could even come up with... More

As Japanese, when I visit Kanazawa, I always enjoy this place. Kanazawa is one of best place to have great quality of seafood in Japan. Sushi is also nice. I would love the izakaya atmosphere with tasty food and Japanese sake. Price is very reasonable especially compared with famous sushi restaurant. If I can recommend one menu, I wanna say... More
