Seafood, seafood see food

Soooo much seafood.... Live seafood or freshly caught there is plenty to chose from and no shortage of places to eat.

Not bad for a quick stroll. Small fish market a short walk from Kanazawa station & downtown Katamachi. Not really a must see unless you have never seen a whole fish or crab before! The Diamond Store has some import food items on the 2nd floor.

A small and accessible market with all the local fish and especially crabs, many still wriggling around, worth a look.

Only if you are into markets, this is a nice little fish, vegetable, fruits market for a morning visit and most restaurants open from 10am if you looking for breakfast. It's about 15 mins walk if you near Korinbo area (Hotel Tokyu or Daiwa shopping mall). We love our market visit whether we are in Europe, Asia or Pacific. You... More

Not as huge as Tsukiji but it has a local character to it. You can eat cooked seafood, raw seafood or other food stuff on level two. But of course you'll have to have a sashimi feast here because it's fresh and reasonably priced (cheaper than super market). I came in November and crabs were in season. I had huge... More

It isn't what you'd call big as markets go, but like most markets in Japan it's busy. My partner and myself were passing through to go to the castle and thought we'd like to see what these markets had for us. There is the usual seafood and lots of it, with a number of restaurants for people to sample the... More

Beautiful fresh fish abounds and sashimi restaurants but not my cup of tea. Had lunch in a tiny tucked away place ... Noodles were good as always in Japan. Fresh fruit and veg looked good. Clothes were not that exciting.i

I've had my first and best sashimi breakfast ever! A full plate of the freshest fish for only 450 yen and the biggest oyster ever for dessert. A must visit in the morning!

Sounds like hyperbole, you're probably thinking. What about Tsukiji? Surely THAT must be Japan's best fish market! They've made whole TV shows about Tsukiji! Yes, well, they've made TV shows about wife swapping and and the Kardashians so clearly, not a reliable barometer for what's good. What Omicho market lacks in real estate it more than compensates for in diversity,... More

This market is located near the Miza department store and certainly worth a visit if you have free time. Probably not as good as other markets in Japan, like Nishiki markets in Kyoto. Get there in the morning while all the markets goers have plenty of produce. Most vendors don't speak any or very little English, so it is difficult... More
