Tasty Unagi but long queue for waiting

We first went to the restaurant at around 6:30 pm and found that there was a long queue of about about 40 people so we went shopping and returned to the restaurant at around 9:15 pm and there was still a long queue of about 25 people. We waited for about 1.5 hours before we could get a table... read more

Probably one of the best Unagi I have ever tasted; not just my view but those of my dining companions as well. The Unagi was done crispy, tasty and cooked just right!

We went there 11am. There's already long queue. Maybe 30 people, I would guess about an hour to get in. I talk to the receptionist about reservation. He said no reservation. I ask about diner queue. The reply was longer 1 to. 2 hrs. Ask again what time, there is no queue. Maybe 4pm. So we went there 4:30. Few... More

it is located on 9th floor of meitetsu department store. the food is very good. but the problem is there are so many people waiting in a line. we visited at noon and waited over 2 hours but the food was worth it. if you dont have much time and if you arrive/depart via the chubu international airport visit the... This place was recommended to us and we thought it was great. They only really serve the local dish hitsumabushi (grilled eel on rice) so are experts at making it. The restaurant is on the main road but doesn't have an English sign outside but you can see through the window where there is only seating for seven people at... More

It was a truly delicious meal. The unagi had just the right amount of sweetness and crispiness on the outside. It was really amazing how the experience and flavors changed between each of the three ways of eating it. Everybody was so very nice, and even though the wait was about an hour, it passed quickly with friends to chat... More

This is really the best eel I had so far. Very crispy on the surface and the fish meat was so fresh and tender. The look is like roasted pork in HK. When we arrived at the restaurant, there was a long queue. But we didn't wait for a long time. The waitress there was very nice. Although she couldn't... More

We wandered into this small restaurant near Sakae, and were treated to delicious eel on a bed of rice. We were patiently shown the three ways to eat the eel, finishing with pouring a kind of miso sauce over it. Fabulous! The restuarant only seats about eight people on bar stools at the long bar, where you can watch your... More

One can get unagi on rice at many Japanese restaurants around the world. But then, there's Maruya Honten. We arrived about 20 mins before opening time on a Saturday and found ourselves about eighty deep in a queue of mainly locals on a day out with their families. People were politely ushered to their tables when the doors opened at... More
