We visited Al-Shami because they are rated number one in Aqaba. Maybe our expectations were to high but this restaurant is just average. The location is very sober and simple, but lovely because it is in the Jordanian style. The service of the waiter is good as well. However he is not amused if you order small portions, because you... We went to Al Shami on Tripadvisor recommendations and agree that it really is a very good restaurant. The food was excellent and the service was wonderful. I didnt get to see the views as the weather was bad but the cost of the meal was very low - less than JOD20 for two people! - far less than I... More

The food was pretty good, but very far from the best "down home" meal I had in Jordan. That being said, one might not be spoiled for choice in Aqaba: I'd recommend asking a local for a better option, rather than just heading here because all the guidebooks mention it.

The food - salads, fried fish and prawns were well prepared and delicious. Service is not that of a fine dining experience but pretty good none the less. Recommend trying to get a table out on the balcony

We visited Al Shami, on the recommendation of Trip Advisor, during a week-long trip to Jordan in December - and had one of the best meals of our trip. Don't be put off by the exterior - it may not look like much, but climb the stairs to the restaurant overlooking the treat, and try some fabulously prepared, fresh and... More

This restaurant looks pretty bland from the outside. However, it serves nice Jordanian food. We had the shish tawook, baba g, a rocket salad and the tabouleh. They gave us tea on the house. So the whole meal cost about 12jd. As I said, it lacks the atmosphere of some of the other similar style restautants, but with great food,... More

After we've got ripped at lunch in our hotel we decided to go somewhere else for dinner. This place was #1 in Aqaba so we went there. I was really sceptic about the place at the beginning, but when they started bringing dishes all my skepticism went away. The place is great, reasonable price, great service and tons of complementary!

This restaurant is essentially a cafe downstairs serving more locals and a more formal restaurant space upstairs. It has a lot of European customers. They seem to like to plonk everyone page they on the terrace. Expect the usual grilled meats, meze and soft drinks. All was pretty good. They were really pushing the lemon and mint drink - we...
