Splendid food and great service - simply one of our best food experiences during our stay in Vietnam

We stayed at a hotel next to the restaurant and had the chance to visit the restaurant several times. We had a great time with the staff and the dishes were amongst the best food experiences during our 15-day stay travelling from Ho Chi Minh city to Hanoi. Having tried almost all of the dishes from... read more

Here you get the real Vietnam food. My wife got a curry chicken that was "mild" for the waiter but quite spicy for us. The food is nice, the price very good. You won't be disappointed of you like to try real local food (not tourist-friendly modified versions of local food)

We ate here 10 years ago and even though it has changed location( it used to be on the river bank) the ambiance was still the same. The food was as good as we remembered. A bit out of town but well worth the effort.

Perhaps there was something amiss in the kitchen the night we were there as we had a fair wait ( beyond the norms for the slow food movement) and the waitress kept apologising for the wait and said that the kitchen would take longer tonight. Despite this and the fact they had run out of cold Saigon beer- we opted... More

If you appreciate the good food, this is the place to be when you are Hoi An. They have a very nice menu where you can choose local specialities as stuffed calamari, cao lau and white roses but furthermore you can pick also other vietnamese dishes as wanton soup, Pho and different kinds of rolls. Their dishes are a mix... More

Slow food is good Everything is really great. The bed dishes are the cassava salad. The fish in banana leaf. The zen spring rolls. The duck in orange. Don't forget to try the stuffed squids, service is good and they are very nice people, very friendly!! If you are in Hoian you can't miss this place!!

Recommended for Coeliacs (though take your translation card to help the waitstaff). We had a lovely Vietnamese dinner at Son Hoian Restaurant. Their stuffed squid is superb, and would rate well against the food at Michelin-starred restaurants. We would definitely dine here again. This restaurant is a little out of the way, i.e. it is neither in the city nor... More

One of the best places to eat when in Hoi An (I am a foodie, so I know what I'm saying ;)) and definitely the best value for money option. There are plenty of places around, but Son Hoian is definitely not risky to go to. The dishes and surroundings are equally pretty. Tastes are exquisite, even the ginger tea... More

We had the best Vietnamese meal ever at this family run restaurant. Sitting opposite the river in Hoi An, delightful ambience, attentive service but the food is what we must write about! While I did not have bad meal in Vietnam this place was a definite standout. Charming restaurant in between the beach and the old town. It is clear this chef takes pride in his food. The spring rolls were the best we have ever eaten. The rice paper rolls filled with succulent fresh seafood were also divine. We struggled only... More
