An enjoyable lunch

Four of us had an enjoyable and tasty lunch here today. A local singer enhanced the ambiance of our outdoor fining experience on the patio. I would recommend the tenderloin espanol (pieces not one big filet for full disclosure) and the homemade flan with dulce de leche.

Strictly for tourists so I suspect that one would never find a local in this restaurant. It sits right in the center plaza of the old city, people and buses constantly passing by. No air conditioning, bathrooms of questionable cleanliness and noise level high. Indifferent service, at least when we had the misfortune to arrive at the same time as... More

This restaurant was recommended to me, and I was attracted by the ambiance. It was a chilly night, so I did not take advantage of the lovely patio area. Had bife de chorizo, which was OK, but lots of sauce and the meat itself was so-so. They had a guitarist/singer who was quite good. I would not recommend this restaurant... More

This place is right in the center of town. It has good ambiance, people and food. Great place to start and end a day in Colonia.

The food was very good, good menu selections and plentiful. Not to European standards, but very tasty. Staff very good, although despite advising of my partners allergy to cheese, first course that he ordered had cheese in it. However staff helpful and spoke good English, large wine selection, but only Uruguay wines. Reasonably priced and conveniently located close to old... More

My family and I had been at this restaurant about 3 years ago. It was at the end of summer and we got a table outside in the beautiful patio. My husband and I returned to Colonia for 2 days recently and I wanted to try the same restaurant. It was this September, on a Monday at 11:40 am and... More

This place has a nice atmosphere, white table cloths, rather formal dining room. The menu is interesting, good wine list. The food however, it was just okay. Not horrible, not the best thing I've ever had. I got the pork, it sounded wonderful, it was cooked well, but the flavor was off, it was oddly sweet and had a pungent... More

I recently visited Colonia on a few occasions - there is a great variation in what is offered, priced and what is delivered. This restaurant gives you everything you might ever need - seriously good food, brilliant service, English if you need it, wonderful old historical building, nice table cloths etc. Proper restaurant at a ridiculous low price vs the... The Mesón features a very attractive colonial setting and decor. We visited as a family of five in July (winter) and had a very tranquil, quiet room to enjoy for our lunch. The service was attentive. The bife was very good, as were the raviolis. My 10-year old son loved the milanesa --and said it was the best he had... More

We were attracted to this lovely looking restuarant when searching for a dinner place by looking in the windows. The rooms looked lovely. When we arrived there was only us and one other couple and the echo of footsteps on the stone floors. The place is charming however that did not equal the food. Three of us ordered the goulash...
