Description: We offer a local cuisine based on the best artisanal products of Colonia, in the most emblematic street of the old quarter of Colonia del Sacramento, the “Barrio Sur”, a World Heritage site, in a typical house of Portuguese construction of early 1700s. Wines of local vineyards, artisanal cheeses, homemade jams, olive oil, spirits, grappas, and typical pastries are part of the menu, to take or to taste at the store. Whether in a small and intimate room or at the courtyard, you can taste different appetizers based on a selection of artisanal local cheeses served with sweet and sour sauces, combined with salami, sausages, ham, vegetable tarts, and chicken brochette. In winter, homemade soups of onion or pumpkin; in summer, salads.

Small, intimate, atmospheric spot for dinner. Local fayre...from lovely smoked cheese to slithers of yummy salami and smoked ham. Lovely onion and pepper jams.... And also wide selection of local wine in support. Staff were friendly and helpful and explained the menu on offer Perfect spot for two but a bit of a squeeze for a family of four!

Nice place to have a bottle of wine with local cheeses and sausages. It is very, very simple and don't expect a fine dinning experience. In my view the secret of this places success is that it is very clear about its promise. The service could be a bit faster, but it is good overall. They recommended very good wine... More

Ate here, in front of a roaring fire,Ina 17 th century, portugese style building. The food is excellent cheese and charcuterie ,all local to Uruguay. Great local wine, cheeses and salume. Very much fun and delicious.

Great little place in an old Portuguese home just off the main square. We were recommended a wine in the mid-price range of their Tanats and it was great. Had 3 cheeses from Colonia, an assortment of charcuteries, sauces, and two vegetable tarts. They were all excellent.

The buzz about this place began even before we set foot in historic colonia. "The best wine and cheese" they said as we disembarked our Colonia Express Ferry at the port. "Cozy and unforgettable" others chimed as we walked around El Faro. Well, we got there and most of it was true. Walk too fast down the calle de suspiros... More

Our guide pointed out this place as we toured old Colonia this morning. Later, we enjoyed wine and cheeses and watching the tourists walk by. Very nice!

I had read about Buen Suspiro on trip advisor and decided that it would be worth a visit I was not disappointed The restaurant is very laid back and even whilst I was there many people looked and moved on .Well they really missed out on an experience. The cheese and meat selection offered to me was delicious and it was... Buen Suspiro specializes in products made exclusively in the state of Colonia: artesanal cheeses, meats and wine. The menu (lunch, when I was there) is somewhat limited, especially if you're there with someone who has to avoid dairy, as I was. But it was delicious nonetheless, and one of the staff speaks very good English. The ambiance is what makes... More

Visited colonia for one day and we were lucky enough to get a table at this small tapas restaurant that serves only Uruguayan products. They take reservations so make them because you don't want to miss their cheese selections, salamis, chorizos and sauces that accompany them. Their olives are briny and bright. They have an extensive wine list but unless... More

We had read a lot about El Buenos Suspiro, all positive, so it was an easy choice to visit whilst in Colonia Del Sacramento. We visited twice during our trip from Argentina to Uruguay and back again (over a 2 week period) Perfect local cheese and wines, great if you've been tested by the other culinary treats on offer throughout...
