Description: We offer a local cuisine based on the best artisanal products of Colonia, in the most emblematic street of the old quarter of Colonia del Sacramento, the “Barrio Sur”, a World Heritage site, in a typical house of Portuguese construction of early 1700s. Wines of local vineyards, artisanal cheeses, homemade jams, olive oil, spirits, grappas, and typical pastries are part of the menu, to take or to taste at the store. Whether in a small and intimate room or at the courtyard, you can taste different appetizers based on a selection of artisanal local cheeses served with sweet and sour sauces, combined with salami, sausages, ham, vegetable tarts, and chicken brochette. In winter, homemade soups of onion or pumpkin; in summer, salads.

This restaurant was recommended by hip young cousins. It was so good that after a fabulous lunch of cheese, salami, tarts and wine, we returned for dinner of soup, lasagna, and more great Uruguayan wine.

I am a massive foodie and had already decided on this place before even arriving in South America and wow I was not disappointed. All 5 of us had he onion soup to start and then a sharing platter of cheese and meats accompanied with 2 beautiful red wines. I loved the food but the setting is also gorgeous!

A small "cave" on the famous Calle de los Suspiros, this restaurant is known for its cheese platters "para picar" (to munch) and wines. Service was good and the food, especially the local cheese, was amazing. Put simply, a must.

This place is so tiny I missed it when I arrived! It's about 100 metres on the left after going through the Archway into the 'centro historico' There's only a few tables and it's very popular. Decorated with wines and cheese, an open fire and a very low ceiling! The cheeses and wines are excellent. The tannat grape (which Uruguay... More

I ducked (literally!) into this place for a snack and some wine during my wanderings in Colonia's old town. It's quaint and quite a lovely old building. The staff was very friendly, especially the man who brought my food, who took the time to explain each cheese and spread, and how they should be combined. The wine and food were... More

My friend and I were travelling around South America for 6 weeks, having done some voluntary work in Peru. We decided a quick trip to Uruguay would be fun and got the ferry to Colonia! We had read in both the Lonely Planet and Trip Advisor this place was fab and it was just that if not more!! We had... More

Just as I arrived in Colonia del Sacramento, I went strollw around until I found this nice place. The food and the service are marvellous, I suggest you to ask for something "para picar". But I warn you: watch your head.

my friend and I stumbled upon this place by accident, but so glad we did! we only had mate (tea) and desserts, so i can't speak to how good/bad the meals are. Our coconut cake and ice-cream were great. if you're in the area definitely worth it to come here for a coffee of glass of wine if you're not... More

Fabulous little restaurant in Colonia. If you like cheese, Spanish hams and red wine this place is a must. We ordered the $580 platter between two and could not finish despite it being beautiful. Local red wine started from $160 a bottle and was good. Reservations are required as only 6 indoor tables. Great service and atmosphere - would highly... More
