Description: We offer a local cuisine based on the best artisanal products of Colonia...
We offer a local cuisine based on the best artisanal products of Colonia, in the most emblematic street of the old quarter of Colonia del Sacramento, the “Barrio Sur”, a World Heritage site, in a typical house of Portuguese construction of early 1700s. Wines of local vineyards, artisanal cheeses, homemade jams, olive oil, spirits, grappas, and typical pastries are part of the menu, to take or to taste at the store. Whether in a small and intimate room or at the courtyard, you can taste different appetizers based on a selection of artisanal local cheeses served with sweet and sour sauces, combined with salami, sausages, ham, vegetable tarts, and chicken brochette. In winter, homemade soups of onion or pumpkin; in summer, salads.

Incredible

El Buen Suspiro is some of the nicest places I've ever ate. Their ambience is the best, and the local wines and cheeses are spectacularly well selected. Also, the price is very fair.

Buen Suspiro, located on the most famous street in Colonia, is nevertheless a bit hidden away on a corner. As it was highly recommended both by my B&B and online, it was my first stop when I arrived in Colonia hungry after the ferry ride from Buenos Aires. I was not disappointed -- I had a fantastic assortment of picadas,... More

We've been to this restaurant because of the several great things we heard about it. Since we've been in South America for a while we were craving for some good cheese. As we are vegetarian we took a medium cheese plate and asked them to exchange the sausage with another sort of cheese. The plate came with some excellent vegetable... More

A lovely little place with small rooms and very few tables. The service is great and the decor very sweet and quaint. The food is very limited and seems mostly to involve cheese and ham platters. A few more food selections would help this place enormously.

We came here to check out the #1 TA stop in Colonia and we were not disappointed. They have a nice wine selection and great cheeses. This place is fun!

You need to bend down to get through the door and once you get in it is as charming as the city outside. i was there in the winter and the fire was on,making it very cosy. The food is great - you can choose from a few platters that have great cheese, hams, breads and olives from Colonia. the... More

The nicest street in town with the quirkiest restaurant. This is more of a wine and cheese shop though so don't go with a big appetite.

Many people have written so many nice things about this restaurant so we went there. The menu was a pit unclear and too long. The local wine list was good and the waiter knew what he was selling. The place was ok but it did not cut a dash. We wonder why this place is number one. The cat was... More

This hidden gem stole our hearts. Great Tannat wine, lovely cheese plates in an incredible old world setting. One of the highlights of our time in Uruguay.

We stopped at El Buen Suspiro on a very hot day and found a shadowy spot in the patio, which was nice and welcoming. We had a picada with ham, bacon, salami, and cheese. It was great to try the local products. The wine choice is also very good, we were advised a km. 0 white one, which we really... More
