Description: We offer a local cuisine based on the best artisanal products of Colonia...
We offer a local cuisine based on the best artisanal products of Colonia, in the most emblematic street of the old quarter of Colonia del Sacramento, the “Barrio Sur”, a World Heritage site, in a typical house of Portuguese construction of early 1700s. Wines of local vineyards, artisanal cheeses, homemade jams, olive oil, spirits, grappas, and typical pastries are part of the menu, to take or to taste at the store. Whether in a small and intimate room or at the courtyard, you can taste different appetizers based on a selection of artisanal local cheeses served with sweet and sour sauces, combined with salami, sausages, ham, vegetable tarts, and chicken brochette. In winter, homemade soups of onion or pumpkin; in summer, salads.

If you want something different!

This place reminds me of a little old tavern. It is very small, reservations recommended, and it's theme is plates of really great plates of hams, chorizos, cheeses and vegtable tarts. Just as the town of Colonia itself is overrated as a tourist destination (*– read below), so is this “picada” /cold tapas/ restaurant. As located in the only Colonia’s real unique and interesting street with still preserved original colonial architecture (Calle de los Suspiros) and therefore taking the most advantage of it for the restaurant’s business (which would be fine... This is such a quaint little restaurant - super famous because of it's size and layout. It is like you are sitting in the old basement of a house. The cheese board was nice, my husband enjoyed the wine but their coffee leaves much to be desired. Tricky place to take kids because it is so small and a bit... More

This is really the place to visit at night. Several cheese platters to choose from and even more wine varieties while seated by the open fire in this low-frontdoor cellar-type establishment. Super cosy, good for at least a few hours of contemplating life over a nice "tannat" (when in Rome...) by candle light and fireplace.

Perfect wine/cheese bar, with an incredible atmosphere. The selection of local Uruguayan wines is wide. Sitting outside, below the stars and enjoying some cheese and a red wine, was lovely.

Secret place ;) with really good wines and "frios". After hanging around all day long in Colonia it's a great place to relax and enjoy Uruguayan Tannat. Worth to try some local cheeses.

This is a small and romantic restaurant. The menu is not very extensive but the food, wine, music and the place were awesome.

What a wonderful wine and cheese bar! Located just after you enter the walled gate on a quaint old Portuguese street. The inside is a low-ceiling wine bar with two small rooms consisting of a total of about six tables. The outside patio area has several tables. It was so relaxing to sit outside with some wine and cheese enjoying... More

This restaurants ranking as the number one spot in Colonia is totally justified. On a chilly autumn afternoon we sat inside next to the fire place and ordered wine and a meat and cheese platter that was of exceptional quality. All produce is from the region. The staff are very helpful and knowledgable, especially regarding the local wines and will... More
