Description: We offer a local cuisine based on the best artisanal products of Colonia, in the most emblematic street of the old quarter of Colonia del Sacramento, the “Barrio Sur”, a World Heritage site, in a typical house of Portuguese construction of early 1700s. Wines of local vineyards, artisanal cheeses, homemade jams, olive oil, spirits, grappas, and typical pastries are part of the menu, to take or to taste at the store. Whether in a small and intimate room or at the courtyard, you can taste different appetizers based on a selection of artisanal local cheeses served with sweet and sour sauces, combined with salami, sausages, ham, vegetable tarts, and chicken brochette. In winter, homemade soups of onion or pumpkin; in summer, salads.

Friendly restaurant in the historic center of colonia. The products used are local and homemade (cheese, quiche, sausage). for those who like this kind of food "picanda" it's perfect. The wine list is comprehensive: the first reason for choosing the place. The service is friendly. you can eat al fresco in a small courtyard

Great selection of food and wine. Sharing one of the large plates between two made it excellent value for money and affordable in comparison to others in town.

This quaint little restaurant is on one of the most beautiful little cobblestone streets in colonia and has a gorgeous little garden patio. We did the wine tasting with cheeses, salamis, and vegetable tarts and it was all so delicious. Such a great experience with very friendly, knowledgeable staff. Highly recommend!

The venue is truly unique. Only 10 tables, 6 in the small patio. The food is good and they serve delicious wine to go with it.

We had a delightful lunch here in the oh so romantic covered garden & because it's still not "the season", we had the place to ourselves. The key offerings for mains are cheese, salamis & veg tarts in a slightly bewildering range of combinations. Presentation was fabulous - great care is taken to present the food elegantly on beautiful hand... More

We went to this restaurant for lunch based on all the positive reviews. We were very disappointed. We ordered a platter of cheese, meat & tarts. The cheeses all seemed to taste the same and the cheese & meat were the sort of average quality that you'd expect from a cheap supermarket. It seemed very expensive compared to the meals... More

Don't know why we were the only ones there the night we came. Maybe because we're Americans and eat earlier (8:30? ). I saw the reviews on TA and sounded so good, made it a point to go. It was our first night in Uruguay and our introduction to Uruguayan wine, which was fantastic. We told the waiter we wanted... More

If you're in Colonia for just a couple of days, like I was recently, you simply have to hit this spot. Order "picadas" from the extensive and simple menu and ask the waiters, all locals from Colonia, for the perfect wine matching. Great service and an atmosphere that sends you back in time. Eating inside is fine, just watch for... More

At El Suspiro you will be surprised by the excellence of the servicie and the quality of the food, because from the outside, you could´t even tell that it´s a restaurant. From family owned farms, they offer cheese, pastries, saussages and the best wines from the county. Cozy and romantic. Reservations needed, because it´s not very large.
