We loved the ambience of this restaurant, the brick and stone building, the atmosphere, the service was very good, they had excellent music both nights that we went, the food was reasonably priced and ok, nothing special but overall the ambience made for 2 great nights.

We visites for an afternoon snack on our trip to Colonia. While the restaurant is beautifully located in the corner of the mayors square, and the food on other tables in general looked good, I was dissappointed by the calamari. It was too breaded and that dominated the taste. Other dishes may be fine, but I had much better calamari... More

The service was good the menu was large so plenty of choice. Sat outside, so great view across square towards light house. The food was plentiful and nicely cooked, delicious deserts. Very good for Uruguay

We are locals and eat here often. It is fun to eat outdoors and "people watch." The menu has a large variety, and everything is good. Service is excellent. Evenings and weekends they have live music. Well located, and convenient hours.

Th is restaurant is a good choice of you want to feel like eating 500 years back, the place keep the same look of the original place. The food is average, but good. The service very friendly. And the best thing is that in Uruguay they return the taxes to you if you pay with an international credit card, so... More

Good food, provided you eat what they do best: meat. Side dishes, like salads, OK. Potato purée with pepper, not a good idea.

Having been generally disappointed with the food in Buenos Aires, this is the best we have had so far. I had the seafood rice which contained a generous amount of seafood and had a lovely flavour cost $295 peso, which was a little steep but a bottle of the house red was only $150 peso. My friend had gnocchi bolognase... More

After visiting some restaurants un Punta del Este and Montevideo I did expect something simpler, meaning, lower quality food in Colonia (don't ask me why). However, I got surprised about the quality of this place. And far more surprised it is #20 or so on city's quality ranking. (English speaking) staff has been kind and polite, price is good and... Went in the off-season (mid-May) when it was not busy. The interior is attractive. We had risotto with seafood. A good-size bowl of well-flavored rice with about 50 little bay scallops, 5 or 6 nice shrimp, mussels, and clams. It was excellent and filling. We also had chard fritters with mashed pumpkin. The fritters were tasty and fried just right.... More

Half of our group was gluten intolerant, so we sometimes struggled to find restaurants with options that suited everybody. Pulperia de los Faroles had a pretty lengthy menu - including meat, seafood, and pasta dishes - enabling each of us to find something they wanted to eat. The food we got (a seafood paella, spinach ravioli, pork ravioli) were all... More
