Very slow service. Why eat salmon or panga or merluza in a river-side restaurant? And yet, that was all the fish they had. Nothing in the menu called my attention except for the fried calamari and fried sea food, which was good.

We had a lovely family meal here watching the sunset over river Plate. The food was good quality and the service ok. We may have received quicker service due to our early start, approx 6/7pm, but as the plaza filled up it seemed the staff took longer to get to everyone. The setting is lovely so not a bad place... Our service at the Pulperia de los Faroles was only average. Our waitress came and went, but not according to service at our table or others. One couple sat down, waited, waited, and finally got their own menus. I'm not sure why they stayed. I ordered "Arroz con Mariscos" and my wife ordered raviolis vegetarianos (stuffed with spinach). For the... More

We went here the other day on a stop over tour of Uruguay. We were 4 Adults and 4 kids. It was probably the worst experience I can remember in all my years eating out. Firstly it was absolutely scorching outside and the restaurant had no air condtioning working. That wasn't the worst. The starters arrived. We ordered the calamari.... More

We waited ONE hour for a simple plate of ñoquis for my 2 year old kid. The spot is THE spot. But... they could sweep a little bit the street where the tables are. Full of broken glasses.. Colonia has negative index of unemployment, so... they treat you nice but they don't care that much. The place iis beside another... More

It was lovely to have dinner on the plaza with the sun setting. The location is the greatest attribute this restaurant has going for it. It was very evocative. The food and service were fine, nothing special. The Gnocchi was good, as was the paella (listed as "Arroz del mariscos or de Valencia"). We ordered appetizers and main courses, and... More

Not terrible but we were surprised by the very low quality of the food and service. After an hour waiting for mediocre food and receiving almost no attention from our waiter, he then reminded us that the gratuity was not included 3 times. We suggest grabbing a chivito around the corner and then taking a taxi to Los Cerros de... More

This is actually a wonderful restaurant but the poor service drags down my rating considerably. I had what appeared from their pictures on the menu to be the specialty, Beef Stroganoff and it was superb. Accompanied by the local Tannant red wine a great meal right around the corner from our hotel in the center of the historic district square.... More

Came here on a balmy summer night and was enchanted by the candlelit tables outdoors in the Plaza Mayor as well as the live acoustic guitar music. Unfortunately the food was markedly less enchanting. The fried calamari was heavy and doughy. My beef (limo) with mushroom sauce was heavy and tasted reminiscent of something from a school cafeteria. The little... More
