Fooled by the name!

We went here expecting to find typical Uruguayan food (because of the name "Pulperia") but turned out to be Argentinian/international. That was disappointing. Sitting at a table outside by the street was not a problem and actually nice since there was a fun street comedian performing there. The... read more

We were rapidly passing through Colonia and requested a rapid lunch. Pasta and salads were suggested and we accepted. Service was rapid and lunch was fine. However, it was expensive for what we had.

It comes recommended by the Lonely Planet and by the locals, but to me it was nothing special. I had a mixed salad and a (HUGE) portion of calamari. They were nice, although a bit oily for my taste. Overall, overpriced for what you get. I had dinner and the tables outside were nice.

Extraordinary location with beautiful square and (partial) view of the sea. Food lackluster: mediocre rice with seafood and a salad that could have been a few days less old. Service perfunctory.

Very slow service. Why eat salmon or panga or merluza in a river-side restaurant? And yet, that was all the fish they had. Nothing in the menu called my attention except for the fried calamari and fried sea food, which was good.

We had a lovely family meal here watching the sunset over river Plate. The food was good quality and the service ok. We may have received quicker service due to our early start, approx 6/7pm, but as the plaza filled up it seemed the staff took longer to get to everyone. The setting is lovely so not a bad place... Our service at the Pulperia de los Faroles was only average. Our waitress came and went, but not according to service at our table or others. One couple sat down, waited, waited, and finally got their own menus. I'm not sure why they stayed. I ordered "Arroz con Mariscos" and my wife ordered raviolis vegetarianos (stuffed with spinach). For the... More

We went here the other day on a stop over tour of Uruguay. We were 4 Adults and 4 kids. It was probably the worst experience I can remember in all my years eating out. Firstly it was absolutely scorching outside and the restaurant had no air condtioning working. That wasn't the worst. The starters arrived. We ordered the calamari.... More

We waited ONE hour for a simple plate of ñoquis for my 2 year old kid. The spot is THE spot. But... they could sweep a little bit the street where the tables are. Full of broken glasses.. Colonia has negative index of unemployment, so... they treat you nice but they don't care that much. The place iis beside another... More
