Located in the very heart of the Old city, on Kobylyanska Street, in the former “German House” – one of the architectural gems of Chernivtsi. Positions itself as an art and literature café, but in fact it’s a posh restaurant. Very exquisite interior and décor in the Austrian-Hungarian style of the Habsburger epoch creates strongly favourable first impression. Cuisine is largely Austrian, with few Ukrainian entries. On the day of our most recent visit half of the menu was absent, and the cook was unforgivably relaxed. Full bar and an extensive wine list. Has no web-site, but some photos and info are available here: http://www.doroga.ua/Pages/RestaurantDetails.aspx?CatalogRestaurantID=948 http://www.city-tour.cv.ua/ru/restaurants.htm http://grand-ukraine.com.ua/catalog/restoran_chernovtsov_karintiya.phtml (all sites are in Russian, so please, kindly use Google translate).

It was hospital and well served place to eat, but I did not find the food any special. I would not say that it was not tasty, but my wife cooks better and mom of course as well :) Maybe I just was not lucky with my choice (green soup and beef steak with nut souse). I would just say... More

This is a good dinner place on a pedestrian street. Good food is a steal - a delicious dinner for 3 @ USD 25 total. Waiters need to be hunted, but if you don not mind this, it is a good place to hang out at the end of the day.

After long road from Kyiv we looking for late meals. Karintia was best restaurant in foursquare rating. We take our seats at terrace. Service very friendly (not only in this place, everywhere in city!), meals were served quickly. As for meals, my pork steak was tasty, but portion was not enough for me, even with fried potato. My wife had... More

Went here with my mom when we were walking down the Kobylyanskoi street and I was really hungry. So I decided to order this huge pork meat with sauerkraut. I think it was about 1,5kg meat. She had a steak. The server was very professional with cutting the meat in front of us. I left this place full and satisfied!

We came here for a birthday party and although the restaurant is on Kobylyanska Street I believe we came in through another entrance off a side street. It was dark and raining so not quite sure the name of the other street. The restaurant is nicely decorated, maybe a little 80ish but attractive all the same. The restaurant itself is... More

I’ve been to Karintia before, and the experience has always been quite enjoyable. However, the most recent visit was more than disappointing, in everything from food quality to service. Was it due to the low season and total absence of other visitors that the staff felt totally relaxed and careless? Karintia is situated in the very heart of the Old... More
