Ate here several times over the past few years, and it was always excellent. Alas, this trip revealed a large "For Sale" sign and chains on the doors. Sad to see it go. In it's place, Oscar's Harborside at the Edgewood Resort offers a great meal with great ambience and scenery -- check it out!

The proprietor is Swiss, and is also the chef and the wait staff. Menu was a bit limited, with more "American" food than I expected, but we were able to find some more Swiss/German items. The French onion soup was rather delicately flavored, not overpowering, and just salty enough. The wienerschnitzel was delicious, as was my spouse's pork dish, the... More

We thought we'd be getting quality food and good service, we got just the opposite. My friend ordered the duck breast in mandrin and cognac sauce. The duck was burnt, and the 'sauce' was this red colored juice floating on the plate, with NO hint of mandrin or cognac! She sent it back and ordered a chicken dish which was... More

Good salmon entree and jaeger schnitzel. Better if had german potato salad on menu in lieu of french fries though. Atmosphere not great; but pleasant staff and owner on premises. Better food than anyplace else in Alexandria Bay.

Excellent service and food. Hostess (owner) and waitress were wonderful. If we were not told to go there we likely would not have. Uninviting entrance and signage. Lots of potential ..................... authentic music and a bier garten?? Would go back and hope they have continued success.

Not bad, but expensive. I got the Duck dish, $30, which was alright, not something to rave about, but palletable. For being in upstate NY, with tons of wineries around, they had a very poor wine selection, only 3 (none from NY), and they were out of 1 of them. Was not really impressed with any other restaurants in Alex... More

Guess the expectation for sauerkraut not from a can is too much. For a 22dollar plate hoped for good german food, poor excuse for americanized palate. Where's the red cabbage. Butter tasted like the fridge, bread was old, pasta was right out of a bag, oh did I mention the twice cooked corn on the cob. Keep walking and find... More

Excellent german and american food. Had the beef barcelona and turkey cutlet and they were just the right size and the price was resonable and the meals were excellent. Yvonne host was very friendly and enjoyable.

Last time we were in Alex Bay, NY we ate at Das Village Haus during October Fest. The service was very good and the food delicious. My husband had Schweine Haxen and I has Schnitzel. Sides were excellent. They offered beer and wine selections to make drinks that went with the food easy to choose. We will be sure to... More

My wife and I saw a blackboard sign in front of Der Haus, featuring Pork Schnitzel, but with no price listed. We both like German food, and entered on an off season Wednesday night. Unfortunaely, the prices were printed on the menu. The cheapest was 22$, and thats alacarte. No salads, or soup. Two young women followed us into the... More
