The welcome, the service and the decor and atmosphere suggested we were in for a very enjoyable evening, however, the wine was grossly overpriced and the food extremely disappointing. My partner and I both ordered curry, dry pork curry for my partner and Massuman for myself. We specifically requested no sugar in the food but both meals were so sweet... More

Dear Roger J, Thank you for taking the time to write this review, we do take all our guests comments seriously and as such I have taken a closer look at your coment regarding our wine prices. It is unfortunate that the Thai tax laws have increased the price of wine 300% but it is a fact of FB life... More

We have stayed at the BT 5 times out of the past 7 years. Each time, Saffron is our big night out. It has the best massaman curry either of us have eaten and the service is unobtrusive, polite and professional. A word of warning though - avoid being seated near spoilt expat families.

We dined at Saffron twice during our stay at the Banyan Tree - on the first night and the last night. The atmosphere was different on each night - quiet on the first night, busy on the second. The staff remembered us the second time around and treated us like royalty. Service is 5-star, which goes along with the 5-star... More

Everything about this restuarant is excellent. From the moment you are greeted at the door to the moment you leave you are treated as special. Food excellent. Ambience excellent. Service excellent. Cost, considering what you are getting very reasonable. Dress standard is smart casual, please no thongs, singlets or boardies!

Staff were very attentive and friendly, although we did have to wait a while for our bill (as they got quite busy). Food was delicious, and although the prices would be classed as expensive in Thailand you would pay double for this quality food in Australia. Would highly recommend the appetiser platter (yum!!) and banana blossom salad. They also wheel... More

We had a nice meal at a not-outrageous price (compared to other high end restaurants in the area) (THB 3,500 for two with mains, shared starter and some cocktails). Beware water prices, as others have advised. One thing that seriously let it down was the number of people very casually dressed (shorts and flip flops) and with multiple kids/buggies in... More

Normally, one expects a place like this to be very busy. When we got there at 9:00 pm, only one other couple was seated. Throughout the two hours we were there, only another table of four was taken up. That is to say, we lucked out and really enjoyed the evening. Not only was the place more or less ours... More

We went for the set menu, which included some fancy takes on regular thai dishes. Service was attentive and respectful. Favourite course was the green curry, least favourite was the Tom Yum which was a little overpowering with lemon grass & galangal, left one wondering which parts you were supposed to eat. Good but brief wine list, we enjoyed a... More

The Banyan Tree is a high end hotel, and the Saffron is their 'signature' restaurant, and so high prices are expected. That said, the restaurant is immaculate and classy, the service is exemplary and the food is exquisite. Thai specialities, beautifully prepared and stylish, modern presentation. In many ways this restaurant is faultless, so why not an 'excellent' rating? We... More
