There are a number of good restaurants along the wharf area. Saeng Thai is a very good option. We tried Chaolay Seafood as it was recommended by one of the local residents of Hua Hin. It was an excellent recommendation. Before climbing the steps into the main restaurant you pass a large selection of fresh fish. Once on the pier, there is an army of staff to seat and serve you. My colleague and I ordered a scallop appetizer, a whole fish main course and a large fried rice side dish. The food was very good and the pricing reasonable, less than $30 for all of the food and 4 beers. Chaolay is worth a visit.

Great Seaside dining

On our first holiday in Hua Hin, we made our way to ChaoLay after reading tripadvisor reviews. We were only there a week but went there twice as we enjoyed the whole dining experience. It was great to walk past the buzzing kitchen downstairs, be seated at a great table on a balmy evening and take... read more

We spent 5 days in Hua Hin. The first day we ended on this pier-terraced restaurant. A bit busy, which is a good sign. And the open kitchen with live fish looked totally impressive. We ended up eating 5 DAYS in row there. Every day a different dish. All were superb. Now I am in Bangkok, still thinking fish and... More

This is one of our most favourite restaurants in the world, having visited several times over the years. the most authentic thai food with fabulous rustic setting (don't be put off by the plastic chairs and tablecloths - the food is unbelievable!). you MUST try the garlic and pepper squid - my husband and I often dream about this while... visited with 2 friends, one who had never been to Hua Hin before, and was horrified at the service - or rather, lack of it.... Visited at 18:00 and while there were about 20 staff, they seemed interested only in laughing and joking with one another. When we eventually managed to get an order of drinks and appetisers placed, it... More

Fish, prawns, clams, rock lobster, crab, all presented brilliantly. Sometimes very busy, so book, or wait or go early or late. Late in Hua Hin is 8:00 pm by the way.

Luckily I visited in early evening so there are still lots of seats. I drive to the restaurant, it is not hard to find and parking available for free. The food is tasty, and price is affordable. You may want to book it through email if you worry to wait long.
