There are a number of good restaurants along the wharf area. Saeng Thai is a very good option. We tried Chaolay Seafood as it was recommended by one of the local residents of Hua Hin. It was an excellent recommendation. Before climbing the steps into the main restaurant you pass a large selection of fresh fish. Once on the pier, there is an army of staff to seat and serve you. My colleague and I ordered a scallop appetizer, a whole fish main course and a large fried rice side dish. The food was very good and the pricing reasonable, less than $30 for all of the food and 4 beers. Chaolay is worth a visit.

Delicious!

Loved this place! Right on the water and easy to find. Don't come for the ambience though - nothing romantic about it but a Thai seafood lovers paradise nonetheless. Minus one star for mediocre apps (prawn spring rolls and grilled scallops) and service (ok but the server forgot one of our dishes... read more

Food is outstanding - pity they have no way of delivering entre separate to mains and the purpose it get you in and out. Very reasonably priced for quality, seated very close to other tables - you join in each others conversations. Try it then explore the others nearby - they are as good, slightly more expensive but much better... More

This is what Thailand is all about in my view. Come here to eat fresh and lovely sea food. Yes it's massive and a bit frantic but felt local and authentic. We came twice - amazing steamed fish with lemon, giant prawns were our favourite but so much to choose from. Try to sit toward send of the pier and... More

Everytime we are in Hua Hin, we visit Chaolay. The service is friendly and the view to the ocean is fantastic. The setting is not luxurious, but don't let that fool you. The food is fantastic and SO cheap. We were two adults, and we paid around 700 bath incl. drinks.

The dining experience on July 21st was absolutely a disaster. I came with my family once in 2013. It was a nice experience. Food was gorgeous. 2 years later, I came back to Huahin and to this pier-side restaurant again. The crowd was still there. The food, OMG, was the worst in this week-long holiday we had in Cha-Am and... More

Very casual atmosphere. Maybe not service with a smile but efficient. If you're looking for fancy cutlery don't come here. If you're looking for the most fantastic seafood then this is the place for you. Try the fried sea bass in red curry sauce. It's simply the best Thai curry I've ever tasted. I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough.... More

Lovely place to eat, especially at the end of their pier. The food was good, especially the pepper squid. Service was fine. However, we went back a 2nd time and they didn't want to put us outside because they thought it might rain....the inside was not very appealing so we left (it didn't rain).

We saw this place full from an adjoining pier restaurant and decided to try it. It was clear once we sat down that it was catering for the burgeoning Chinese tourist trade and not for European/Thai tastes. The service was gruff and poor and the food not to our liking - we felt as if we were intruding so we... More
