There are a number of good restaurants along the wharf area. Saeng Thai is a very good option. We tried Chaolay Seafood as it was recommended by one of the local residents of Hua Hin. It was an excellent recommendation. Before climbing the steps into the main restaurant you pass a large selection of fresh fish. Once on the pier, there is an army of staff to seat and serve you. My colleague and I ordered a scallop appetizer, a whole fish main course and a large fried rice side dish. The food was very good and the pricing reasonable, less than $30 for all of the food and 4 beers. Chaolay is worth a visit.

Great food..bit pricey.

Having travelled to Hua Hin many times with friends over the past 10-12years,one of our favorite outings has been to Chaolay Seafood. With decking built over the water it is a magnificent place to have a meal overlooking the Gulf Of Thailand. With the freash seafood in tanks you can't get any... read more

You can look at all the live seafood displayed downstairs and watch the dozens of chefs/cooks busy ay works in the open kitchen, before heading upstairs to the open air restaurant. Lovely setting on the pier with a nice view out to sea. The place is very large, but loads of room and it's very popular so it had a... More

My friends and I had lunch and dinners here many times to recall how flavorsome of the seafood dishes. Recommended dishes were steamed crab and shrimp, fried seabass with fish sauce, steamed seabass. Fresh coconut is preferred to serve for everyone. If you can't eat sweet thing, you may skip it. Our finale was always the sitcky rice with riped... More

The exterior is not the most promising of all. Yes there is fresh fish on ice and in tanks downstairs, but the smudgey tablecloths and stained nylon chair covers look anything but inviting in the romantic neon lighting. The food though, is very good. It's not the cheapest in the area, but it's worth it: ocean views, fast service, large... More

Chaolay is deservedly a Hau Hin institution. The location is magical. The fish is kept alive in tanks, so always arrives freash at the table. The service is beautifully choreographed that it is a joy to observe The dishes are all prefectly prepared, and the wine list is really very good indeed. This is a large retaurant and does get... It was not a happy experience to be there. Price is high and food is below standard. Service is so so. It is a place for group tourists.

I ate at chaolay three times with my family. Every time we had to wait just 5 minutes for a tabble. The food was excellent and inexpensive and service was good. I think this is the best of the near seaside restaurants.

Accepting that it is lunar new year and they were very busy, this was still awful. Wait of about an hour for first dish and then they all came individually over the next half hour. Scallops and prawns in coconut were very good but served 45mins apart. No explanation and despite what others say no one admitted to speaking English... More

We last ate here many years ago so were not sure how it would have changed. What a delight to see that apart from improving the service aspect, the restaurant was still as popular as ever with the majority of diners being local Thai's. Food was extremely well cooked and so tasty, dining outdoors under the stars is always a... More

If you like to dine next to the beach and have sea view then this is the place. The food price is reasonable and nice seafood selection. Too bad it close before 10:40pm There is another restaurant next door with white chairs and tables. This restaurant is opened till 11pm.
