ChaoLay Seafood

Thanon Naretdamri, Hua Hin, Thailand
Improve this listing
Ranked #103 of 381 Restaurants in Hua Hin
Cuisines: Seafood
Dining options: Reservations, Late Night
Description: There are a number of good restaurants along the wharf area. Saeng Thai is a very good option. We tried Chaolay Seafood as it was recommended by one of the local residents of Hua Hin. It was an excellent recommendation. Before climbing the steps into the main restaurant you pass a large selection of fresh fish. Once on the pier, there is an army of staff to seat and serve you. My colleague and I ordered a scallop appetizer, a whole fish main course and a large fried rice side dish. The food was very good and the pricing reasonable, less than $30 for all of the food and 4 beers. Chaolay is worth a visit.

Ate here twice over our twelve nights in Hua Hin. Great location, on its own pier over the water, and by far the most popular of the several pier restaurants next to it. Hard to fault the food we had anywhere in Hua Hin, and this food was also excellent. You can either sit out in the open air close... More

I went here upon recommendation late my first evening. Staff were friendly and quick. However upon getting my order of Pad Seew, a very common dish, I was disappointed that it was served with ramen noodles and not traditional flat rice noodle. When I questioned this, the waiter said "sorry, no have". The flavor just wasn't the same. I also... More

This restaurant came highly recommended by locals. The food was fine, no better. The service indifferent. We went lunchtime I sincerely hope things are better in the evening. We were so unimpressed that we didn't go back and find out.

We have been at Chaolay Restaurant many times. It's one of the best in town and even in Thailand in my opinion. Highly recommended: raw shripms with spicy sauce, crab in yellow curry, chicken with cashew nuts, seabass with garlic and black pepper and bean curd salad. Excellent food and nice Sea view. Simple but always very good!!! must visit... More

We went there twice. The first time we order mostly the recommended dish and it was very good. The second time we order others and it was not great but still ok. Nice environment and view. Good service. A good variety of seafood is available.

After wondering around trying to find somewhere different to eat we ended up here. Chaolay is a sea food shop with a restaurant upstairs. There were a lot of locals in here which is usually a good sign and of the four restaurants that are situated over the water this one was full. Service was prompt and our food when... More

Nice imposing building on the corner. You can't miss it and you can't but want to try it, especially when the hotel gives it as a recommendation. Really busy place so much so that they can't be bothered to find you a table. What service? Had to hijack a passing waiter to get his attention just to get the menu.... More

Service can indeed be a little chaotic here, but it certainly isn't bad. Shrimp spring rolls were probably the best I had in Hua Hin and the Hot Pot beef also was excellent. Only the Papaya Salad fell short of the mark as it curiously lacked papaya. The setting on the pier is great and has nice cooling sea breezes.
