My friend and I are used to eat in small typical restaurants in Asia and know well chinese and thai food...the price here was very low but unfortunately the food was also awful. What a mistake to go there. We could feel something was wrong as the restaurant was empty. I would't be surprised to be sick tomorrow....

Muang Thong is a slightly-bigger-than-your-average-hole-in-the-wall resturant with signs in Chinese but otherwise more or less indistinct in appearance from a million other holes-in-the-wall in Thailand. The good part is that a lot of these holes in the wall have good food and cost little and Muang Thong conforms to the rule. On the recommendation from the Lonely Planet review, I... More

A simple, clean and cheap place to eat. Most dishes were good, would go back to give it another go. The sweet and sour whole fish was delicious.

Reviews seem to be mixed because obviously people like different things. I sometimes enjoy some of the finest restaurants int the world... and I sometimes enjoy eating on the street throughout Asia. All things considered, this is quite simply one of my favorite restaurants in all of Thailand. The vegetables are amazingly fresh. They generally are fresh and especially good... More

Excellent location on the main road near Wiang Inn, Night Market and Bus Station, open till very late. The menu includes soft drinks, beer, and a large variety of rice, noodle and soup dishes. Simple restaurant, value for money, equivalent to street food. A large screen TV is also available.

I read the previous two reviews and decided to take the second reviewr's advice and "safely ignore" the first reviewer's comments. What a mistake to make. The food really was as bad as the first reviewer reported. I went with three local Thai people from Chiang Rai who had never eaten there. We ordered a number of dishes to share.... More

OK People who like to stay at pretentious mock 5* hotels might not take to this place. It is, as the Rough Guide says justifiable popular with locals and travellers alike. You can safely ignore the horrid reeview. I've eaten Chinese multi-quisine resaraunts is many regions of many countries, including several in South-East asia. This eatery is nothing special. It... This scruffy little restaurant is not far from the Wiang Inn Hotel and so gets a fair bit of trade from there from newly-arrived tourists who are not aware they are being fleeced and served poor-quality food. I fell into that trap the first night and having been living in Thailand almost 5 years, I know prices. I was astounded... More
