Asian styled super restaurant

From the outside it looks like every ordinary Asian restaurant with an explosion of TL based light. But this restaurant is a diamond. It seems to be run by a family (grandparents, parents, children, etc.) and it feels like sitting in the family's living room (big television). Besides a lot of... read more

We stayed at Baan Malai and so this restaurant is very accessible to us at the junction. It is advertised as a 24 hr restaurant and it seems to be very popular with the tourist and locals. The food tastes quite average but it is very reasonable in terms of price. There is a big television here where one can... More

This is a crossover of Thai and Chinese flavours right on Phaholyothin Rd. in central Chiang Rai. The place was always full after 6-7pm and you might have to wait for a table, as it's very popular with locals and tourists alike. The place itself is simple, sporting a typical "grandma"-like atmosphere with old ladies, husbands and and children serving... More

The cheap food (<100B) is bang average, while the recommended stuff that gives this place it's good reputation is all over 200B. We were really disappointed.

Good restaurant with typical northern thai food. Be careful most of the dishes are spicy, precise if you don't want them to be. The is no ambience, it's not a place to spend an evening, but to have a tasty diner. Bon appétit!

We hadn't read TA reviews or we might have been put off from going here. It is at the corner of the soi to our guest house and we saw it was busy with locals at breakfast and dinner times. We visited around 6.30 and the place was nearly full at 7pm. We had chicken, dry chilli and cashews (lge)... More

I was really a pleasure to be here. Chicken with dry chili and cashew nuts - really good. A lot of locals have eaten here and it was a nice atmosphere.

My friend and I are used to eat in small typical restaurants in Asia and know well chinese and thai food...the price here was very low but unfortunately the food was also awful. What a mistake to go there. We could feel something was wrong as the restaurant was empty. I would't be surprised to be sick tomorrow....

Muang Thong is a slightly-bigger-than-your-average-hole-in-the-wall resturant with signs in Chinese but otherwise more or less indistinct in appearance from a million other holes-in-the-wall in Thailand. The good part is that a lot of these holes in the wall have good food and cost little and Muang Thong conforms to the rule. On the recommendation from the Lonely Planet review, I... More
