BEST food in town

We ate here twice, the food was superb. Try the Laab, it is absolutely delicious and not from the area, so nice to try something new. The service is great, one of the owners is German and was very attentive, offering help with the menu and suggestions, checking in with us if the food was great. It... read more

Overall a fantastic meal, the Isaan dishes recommended by the Swiss host Jonas were both excellent and memorable. Som Tam Thai Sai Boo (papaya salad with preserved crabs) and Nam Prik Mu Pak Tot (tempura vegetable dip) have been mentioned by many reviewers here with good reason - it's with a detour here to try them alone. Nice decor and... More

Our second time at this excellent restaurant in Khao Lak was as good as the first. The menu was varied and the cuisine was served with attention. A Thai delight with admirable people, a dog who sat quietly in the corner and a busy market outside - a real treat in the most unlikely place.

This rustic set restaurant was recommended by hotel staff. The thai wait staff were not very pleasant but a foreign manager I presume was the only exception. He even brought over a magazine for me while waiting for my meal as i was dining alone. Food took a while to arrive but tasted good even looked nice presentation wise. Nice... More

I'm getting more and more picky with Thai food but this place unpretentious is a good one in Khao Lak. The couple Swiss - Thai managing the place, are serving good Thai food at an attractive price (i.e. no credit cards). The location is very central in the village and you sit outside (covered terrace). It could be noisy since... More

Last year Khao Niau was our favourite restaurant in Khao Lak area and this year we were looking forward to visiting it again. The co-owner Jonas was friendly, he recognised us from the last year and even remembered what we were ordering. This was nice, but then, our good feeling was slowly fading away. The service was slow, and the... More

Visited this place on the recommendation of Pascal at our hotel. It looks a bit ramshackle but the experience was great. If you visit just one restaurant in Khao Lak then it has to be this one. On our first visit we selected off the menu with a bit of help from the English speaking partner in the restaurant and... More

This restaurant offers an amazing menu containing the usual fare, plus several exotic dishes from the Isaan region, including a few that are annotated with '***' to warn farang (foreigners) not to order them before discussing the exact nature of the dish with Jonas first! These involve items such as fermented clams, fermented fish and various raw meats (not for... More

Very good Thai food with a range of spiciness. There are also some hot pots, which you cook yourself that looked good. However the service was very slow & it appeared that the European Manager was the only person capable of taking orders from Europeans, which meant a long wait for drinks & food. There are other Thai restaurants of... More

Our second visit and it delivers what it is, great, authentic Thai food. The decor is simple and authentic, the servers were prompt and very friendly. We ordered two cocktails, which were refreshing and really delicious, and our food was excellent.
