Popular because it's different

Unlike most of the other restaurants in the area you will need to book for Smile, as it is only open in the evening and fully booked most nights. This is due in part to clever marketing campaigns, but also due to the fact that it does do something different. The French owner is always willing to... read more

This is our second time in Khao Lak and each time we have been to Smile at least 4 times. We love the French Thai style food, which is always fresh and the flavours are superb, the specials are a must. The service is always excellent and Frank and his chef wife always accommodating

The v host was most charming and accommodating. All the staff were very friendly. The food was superb. I had the Tom Yam soup, absolutely delicious, and the speciality chicken, very good. My wife had the Blue Marlin, which was beautifully cooked and to die for. Overall a well worthwhile place to visit. ps it won't break the bank :-)

Although a little out from the centre of Khao Lak it is certinly worthy of the No. 1 restaurant. The French owner is the perfect host chatting with all the diners. The food is fresh, tasty and reasonably priced. Highly recommended when visiting Khao Lak.

Exceptional food, ;amazing service, great choice of affordable wines and a chance to taste local Thai wines on Frank's recommendation. We ordered Franks suggested specials which were local fresh produce. Couldn't fault a thing!

the food was very special both in taste and presentation. The menu was not too expansive but there were enough choices without being confusing

After 10 days on the catamaran, exploring the savage islands of the Andaman Sea, it has been a true delight to enjoy some of the benefits on civilisation, such as gourmet food. We were a group of six and tried very diversified dishes. From fish and seafood to chicken or curries, everything has been delicious. The atmosphere was nice and... More

On recent holiday in Khao Lak, we visited this restaurant ,given the good reviews on Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed. In fact, we enjoyed the food, service, atmosphere and personal attention to detail of the owner, that we dined there on a second night. We endorse previous glowing recommendations.
