The restaurant is located in one of the best hotels in Galle. The service is very good and they are very friendly. The food was good. To share we take scallops with cauliflower puree, very tasty. Then we have the rissotto with crab, it was good but the best was the rice & curry. To go for dinner one day... More

A busy afternoon in Galle had the perfect ending when we enjoyed the Silver Stand afternoon tea for four at this wonderful hotel. Large portions, delicious food and exemplary service. Not cheap, but well worth the money. Top tip - try the 'white tea!'

We came her for afternoon tea. Stunning hotel and very good food to match. Had very good coffee instead of tea. We chose the silver stand and were served with 2 large scones with cream and great chunky strawberry jam. Then came out the actual stand, laden with sandwiches, tarts, cakes and other sweet goodies. We were left very satistfied... More

Another place that felt like we were back in colonial times. We had a couple of cracking Arrack Sours relaxing on the porch. The service was fantastic and the drinks were knock out. This place was so good, drinks so nice and we really relaxed for the first time in months here, that it actually made our top 5 experiences... More

Amangalla is a really nice spot for High Tea (starts 15:00). The price for two is a quite reasonable 4500LKR (inclusive of all taxes and service charges) and includes a good selection of teas alongside sandwiches, cakes and superb freshly-baked scones. You're given quite a lot though, and my wife and I struggled to finish it all. There is also... More

We had lunch here while we were wandering around the Fort. It is a lovely hotel with a lovely dining room. The service was outstanding, and the food was also excellent. We each had a sandwich, and it was a welcome break from our usual Sri Lankan curries. The wine list was good, and if we are ever back in... More

The Amangalla hotel is so beautiful set in the historical Galle Fort. The Zaal houses the salon where pre dinner drinks were served. The decor is classic colonial. The menu has both European & Sri Lankan choices with the emphasis on locally available produce. The tuna entree our daughter & I had was the best ever. Perfectly cooked & presented.... More

The experience should have been so much better. I booked it the day before but we ended up being seated at a tiny table in the lobby. No dazzling white linen here. Sandwiches were of the dry curled up variety. Cream scones were the redeeming feature. We had to ask the waiter if he could ask the cleaner to stop... More

Best to make a reservation, and don, t even think casual. Went for a nice meal, not rice and curry which after 2 weeks can be welcome. Colonial setting, but unless you are resident, you won, t get a table on the terrace, evenif you book and request it. Service was attentive as you would expect, and by far the most... More
