Fantastic food in a gorgeous setting

What an amazing place! As soon as you step through the gate it feels like being in a different world. It is a garden with widely spaced tables with small decks built over the water for only one table each. There is also a lantern-lit pontoon with a table on it that gets rowed out onto the lake for... read more

After reading reviews on 'TripAdvisor' we decided to go for my wife's birthday celebration. We were so pleased with the food and experience we decided to go for a second night. Very warm greetings from the staff especially the waiter 'Nalin Nawan' who made us feel very welcomed and added a personal touch making the evening even more enjoyable. Fabulous... More

Being the best of a very poor number of restaurants is not the pinnacle of achievements. The setting is charming as is the owner and his staff. However the menu is limited and simple. Very little culinary skill would be required to reproduce these dishes. The red wine served chilled could be used to remove several layers of paint! There... More

My husband and I are on our second day on Bentota and we went there on our first night (yesterday). We ordered three different plates: garlic butter prawns and Seer Fish and cuttlefish. They all came with a delicious pineapple/cabbage/tomato salad and rice on the side. We also ended our meal with an outstanding homemade vanilla ice-cream with honey and... More

My friends and I walked to this place as it was very close to our hotel. The ambiance, food and the view of the river is just amazing. The chef, who owns this place too was very approachable on the dishes he recommended. Prawns Sri Lankan style mixed with traditional spices and Diyasisila Special with pineapple mix sours under Fish... More

We went out on the lake on the pontoon with lanterns around us. Food is delicious and the staff are lovely but the friendly manager was a bit disappointed that tourism was down and it was quiet. We loved it and went 3 times. I hope things get better for the local businesses. Best fish I ever had.

Just got back from dinner at this delightful little restaurant on the lake. Table for two right on the water. Served by an interesting character who shared a lot about the nature on the lake. Shared Grilled seerfish with garlic sauce and Sri Lankan style prawns. Delicious. Although the menu is small the dishes come with a salad entrée and... More
