Pure vegetarian cooking

This is one of the few vegetarian restaurants in South Korea, so we definitely wanted to go here for dinner. We opted for the set menu, 9 Korean dishes to share. Some of them were delicious, others required a more acquired taste. All of the dishes were very beautifully finished up, one could see... read more

Situated a short drive from downtown, Baru is a wonderful place to have a nice leisurely dinner. The menu is simple with only a couple choices of traditional vegetarian dishes. The set menu is an amazing 4 course meal. The food is made fresh and the variety of flavours and vegetables is great. Baru's "temple food" is as good as... More

This place is great for vegetarian to try a bunch of Korean food that would normal have meat or fish. I went here with my girlfriend and her sister, both of who are vegetarian, but I eat meat, and can honestly say that this was still one of the best meals I've had in Korea. We got the set menu... Baru is a vegan restaurant in Gyeongju serving so called ‘temple food’. The food is among the best vegan food I ever had and I do not eat meat, which means that I frequently eat vegetarian food and have a bit of knowledge in that area. Vegan food is always under the suspicion of tasting a bit boring and actually... More

A really nice restaurant and food is totally worth of money. It's outside the main city and a bit tricky to spot if you aren't familiar with Korean letters.

Fresh, filling, authentic Korean dishes served by a friendly Buddhist. Table d'hote: 18,000 won (about 18 USD) includes tea, salad, soup, bibimbap, numerous side dishes and watermelon.

We had temple food in Insadong in Seoul Korea and it was overrated and overpriced so we did not have high hopes when we walked into Baru. We were absolutely blown away by the beautiful food that we were served. The owner has a lot of experience preparing food for Buddhist monks and learned on her own several different styles... More

I spent five years living and traveling in Korea, visiting various farms and vegetarian restaurants and exploring the cuisine as much as I could. I wouldn't hesitate to say that Baru offers one of the best Jeongsik (tratidional Korean style set meal with rice and loads of side dishes) in the country. Baru serves a wide variety of side dishes,... More

We came here after reading the reviews on TripAdvisor and this sure is a place with great food! The atmosphere is not very welcoming, but it is a traditional style restaurant with low tables and cushions on the floor, which sure was a highlight for our 2 kids! The food is exceptional, we had the menu for 18.000 won and... More

The cost of the set is now 18,000 won. It was really tasty and a very interesting selection of inventive food. We didn't find the quantity overwhelming. There were eight courses altogether but they were all very small. Each meal was like a sample taster with one each of something on a plate of a saucer of something to share... More
