What a surprise, the wine is exemplary and simply worth the stop. The appetizers add to this experience. Be very specific about your dinner, we found they cooked everything well done, regardless of our direction. It was good but could have been great. Service was overly friendly, and could have been more professional...

The food is good not great and the menu was limited. The most impressive aspect of the experience was the excellent service. Prices are high for what is being prepared. Would not recommend.

I have no complaints. After being invited to join some friends, then reading some sub-par online reviews, I went here ready to be underwhelmed... but I thought my meal was wonderful and the service was delightful! I really enjoyed looking at the old motifs and photos in the dinning room. I ordered the Strip Steak (medium) which was perfectly cooked... More

Jacks is a lovely restaurant with a real feeling for Albany's great history. The staff is exceptional. The menu, however, is very limited. Although the food is good for the price one would expect much better.

Food quality and portions were not what I expected. Given the raving reviews from colleagues, I expected to have a great culinary experience. I left disappointed and have no plans of returning,

Went here on a Sunday evening with 2 friends as not much was open nearby our hotel. Nice looking restaurant indoors with somewhat indifferent, haughty waiter. Had their shrimp cocktail (OK, 4 jumbo shrimp but very expensive even by NYC standards). Our waiter was terribly slow despite the fact that the restaurant was virtually empty when we arrived for dinner.... More

My friends and I have gone to Jacks for the past 2 Thanksgivings and have no complaints. Our waiter was more than attentive keeping the hot rolls coming and the water glasses filled. The meals (turkey with the fixings and shrimp toscan were hot and delicious. We were not rushed at all and enjoyed it thoroughly.

We were very disappointed in our recent visit to Jack's. The service was okay. My water glass never got refilled. This would not have been so bad if the food were better. The crab cakes were adequate with little flavor. The strip steak was nicely cooked, but, again, did not have much flavor. The plating was not attractive. There was... More

We would always go there for dinner when we went through Albany & it was one of our favorite places ever. On the way back from Thanksgiving we decided to stay downtown & walk to the restaurant as we hadn't done that for a long time. The service was as good as ever but one look at the menu told... More

I have been going here for many, many years. Always had the nicest things to say. But those days are long gone. They have a Chef from Troy NY that couldn't keep his own business a float now running their kitchen. The food is horrible. It always comes out cold or lukewarm. They dish you up food that is not...
