Excellent dinner but didn't feel Mexican

Stopped in for dinner after the Hidden Garden Tour. Both my friend and I asked for recommendations and were told to try a favorite chicken dish - Pollo San Marco. We did and enjoyed it, but were disappointed that no cheese or salsa were served with the tortillas. Other than that, our server was... read more

I stopped here for lunch and was satisfied. The order was taken right away, the food came out pretty quick, everything tasted good. The only thing was that I felt rushed by the waiter.

My husband and I went on a cloudy evening and the inside seating area was almost full (probably bc possible rain and the outdoor seating isn't covered). The tables are very close together and the room seemed a little claustrophobic. They first tried to seat us right outside the kitchen door with waitstaff constantly going in and out-within inches from... More

Sometimes you go to a restaurant for ethnic food, and you get an americanized version, but it is still good. El Mariachi was neither authentic nor good. The service was good: food was fairly quick in coming out, the waitress was attentive and friendly, and we were seated promptly. The carnitas were dry. Really dry. The tortillas were store bought.... First off we waited 15 minutes for our wait person to take our drink order and that set the tone for the evening. Food was just OK. Did not like the guacamole; it was loaded with large (1/2 inch) chunks of onion which completely overpowered the avocado. I want to like this place, but we won't go back.

I try to make sure to treat myself to a visit to El Mariachi at least a few times a year. I've eaten at both Albany locations, and the food, drinks and service are consistently excellent. I prefer this locale simply because the small, old building feels as if it was brought here straight from Puerto Vallarta. The menu is... More

I know there is an El Mariachi on Washington but it just is not the same as the Robinson Square location so I was very happy with their recent re-opening after being closed far to long due to a fire. Wife and I were seated quickly on a Saturday nite (We had a reservation) and our server was with us... More

After a year long closure for renovation El Mariachi on Robinson Square is now re-opened. The restaurant consists of two contiguous buildings and is situated on an incline on the corner of Hamilton and Swan Streets. Therefore the restaurant is on multi-levels. On entering you come into the bar area which was lively on Monday night. To the left is... More

Lots of happy goings-on.....three small family birthdays where everyone sang. Lots of young professionals as it is near the state capital and the legislature was in session. Even with all the activity, service was great, portions were generous, atmosphere was friendly even from table to table.

This establishment offers delicious Mexican food in a lovely setting on Washington Ave. opposite Albany Institute. Their mole is marvelous. Ample food is provided if you order a fajita. Sangria is great and, of course, the nachos are endless. We love this restaurant!
