Great service....dinner, not as expected

A let-down after many previous excellent visits. Small dissonances : why give a steak knife for a veal dish? Unfortunately it was needed. My Compari arrived after the appetizer and with the main course. My wine arrived in time for dessert. Soggy vegetables. Only the water boy was attentive - we had to flag down the water to request a... More

We made a reservation for a party of 7 several days ahead. It was a family group (3 generations) celebrating the 20th birthday of our granddaughter. We were very warmly and enthusiastically greeted as we were brought to our table which was very nicely set. Service at "Capriccio" is, and always has been, top notch, the staff working as a... More

Master Chef Jim Rua 's Café Capriccio is a ( not so well) well kept secret for authentic, classic Italian food. With attention to providing the freshest ingredients, the menu changes daily ( so be prepared to see dishes that you might have never heard of before !) , yet still offers a classic selection of Italian dishes ( including... Excellent dinner for four tonight. Very pleasant as you enter this quaint Italian gem. Staff was friendly and helpful. Good martinis and wine. Chicken picata, Eggplant in red sauce, Ravioli special, and chicken with eggplant were all fresh, tasty, and well made. Great dinner experience.

I have heard how great Cape Capriccio is for a very long time. Having eaten at most of the truly great Italian restaurants the capital district has to offer I was really excited to try last week before we went to Tony Bennet at the Palace. We started with a nice bottle of Italian Red and ordered two apps to... More

I had the good fortune to attend a meeting which had as its "banquet" a Chef's Table experience at Cafe Capriccio. What a meal! Each course was more delicious than the one before. The selection of salads and antipasti was as good and varied as any I've enjoyed in Italy. The pasta with fresh tomatoes and cheese was delicious. Main... More

A co-worker recommended this place and it was great!. Real Italian food, freshly prepared. I had the Shrimp and Calamari Fra Diavlo, but had it prepared mildly. I also ordered it in the appetizer portion which was plenty because I had the antipasto appetizer, which was fabulous. I was so stuffed from dinner and the appetizer that I did not... More

Wonderful food & intersting decor. All dishes are tasty & prepared by an obviously attentive staff. Has a solid wine list w/ decent prices. When in Albany, this restarant is always a destination for us. We've patronized it for over 25 yrs & have never been let down. Everyone whom we've recommended it to agrees w/ our assessment. It's located... More

Visiting our son and his fiancé in Albany, we took them to dinner at Cafe Capriccio. Housed in what appears to have been an old row house in downtown Albany, we had no trouble finding a parking spot down the block. This place came highly recommended by longtime NY politicians and, man, we're they spot on, The wine list is... More
