We chose this restaurant for a birthday celebration based on the on line reviews. I called ahead and made reservations and let the manager know it was for a birthday. We were a party of eight, ordered a bottle of wine and appetizers, warm olives and gnocchi. Bread was warm and tasty. We all felt the menu was limited, not... More

Our 2 couples enjoyed a nice evening at Cafe Capriccio. The Italian food is delicious. Excellent sauce on the pasta dishes. Had not been there in a long time as we avoid downtown Albany generally - we just prefer to stay in the suburbs or go up to Saratoga. Service was good, generous pour on my Scotch. Overall, a very... We really enjoyed our meal here, after having picked the restaurant out on-line, not being from Albany. It had a cozy atmosphere, and there was delightful live music as a backdrop to our meal, a sultry-sounding jazz vocalist. Our pasta dishes were tasty (very large helpings -- we couldn't even finish the half-size portions). The bread in the bread-basket, not... More

My husband and I had an evening out with another couple at Café Capriccio. I was immediately struck by the warm ambiance of a place that cares about the experience of the patron. I am always very happy to eat in a restaurant that has linen tablecloths (not covered by glass) and gentle lighting - not bright but not so... More

While traveling checked out 2 "no-go" places before finding this cute Italian cafe! Don't think there are great choices in the city but this one was okay! Eggplant app was fabulous but our dinners were just average. The atmosphere was really cute and the place was packed with locals!

We took my brother here for his 50th birthday dinner. We came from Florida and our sister came from Georgia. It was our first time. Needless to say, the eggplant was to die for. Everyone at the table enjoyed their meal. The best part was Jennifer and the staff. She knew everything about the menu and guided us based on... More

I've been going to Capriccio since 1986. It was a magical place that turned me into a foodie. After moving from Albany to Manhattan and traveling the major cities of the world experiencing fantastic restaurants, I still find the opportunity to go back to Capriccio about once a year. I'm not sure how much Capriccio has changed or how much... More

A restaurant that has been in business this long does so for good reason but, I can't honestly say what that would be judging from the night we visited. Their signature "eggplant parmigiana" stood up to the hype and was probably the best that I have ever tasted. Bread served was not good or Italian. I ordered the "grilled trio"... More

We had a family dinner (about 10) in a room on the second floor that also has a full kichen. The chef-owner and other cooks cooked right there, and were happy to converse with us. There were endless courses and the food was exquisite. There were endless antipasti, each one better than the last. What a treat!

Very good Italian food. Most entrees 25$ to 35$ but some of the pastas can be an entree or a starter. Specials in pasta and fish every night. Parking lot nearby despite downtown location.
