Authentic Indian Food

We were in albany and looking for a place to eat. We found Pativar on Trip Advisor and decided to check it out. If you like authentic Indian food, this place will knock your socks off. I love Parivar! Great assortment in the grocery section and tasty chaat in the back. The Mysore Masala Dosa is spicy and delicious. I've never had a bad dish here. Love the Pav Bhaji and Sev Puri as well. The staff in both the grocery and cafe have always been very friendly. I've been here with my husband and solo.... More

Some items like Mango Lassi, chat were okay, but some items in the thali were not good. There are some snack items which were good like samosa for instance was eatable. It was a nice break for us while driving from NYC towards upstate New York. We wanted to eat some Indian place but most of the restaurants open only... More

It's just a little cafe at back of Indian grocery store, but my word, how good! Freshly prepared spicy food at a very reasonable price. Not fancy, just delicious.

When it first opened the food was very delicious ... now slowly the quality is going down. I am an Indian so I can tell the difference in taste. Now its closer to American palate and no longer spicy and hot. Its all bland now. The service is good, people are nice and value for money(not for an Indian)

I got the large dinner which consisted of lentil soup, rice, an egg dish, a cabbage and potato dish, a sweet thread of dessert, delicious naan, and a samosa wth chutney. Everything was excellent! I had to wait about half an hour but took the opportunity to shop and buy a delicious indian snack food and some cooking spices. The... More

This is a little cafe in the back of Parivar Indian grocery store. It is inexpensive and so delicious. I have eaten there twice now. The first time I got a "small plate" and just randomly selected the items to go on it based on the descriptions given to me by the person working - and it was all tasty.... More

The food is addictive! The little cafe is at the back of the grocery store and food is prepared as you wait. There are a few tables if you want to eat on the spot. Friendly staff behind the counter explained menu items and helped me select two chaat dishes for takeout. Everything looked so tasty, I grabbed a fork... More

This is actually inside an Indian grocery store. It is like a food court. It serves Chaat (like Indian Tapas or Indian savory snacks or roadside snack), a few North Indian curries and dishes, samosas and South Indian delicacies like Dosas (crepe or pancake). It has a very decent variety. Everything is made right in front of you. You could... More
