Great food, great value

One person in my party found this restaurant and I can say it was a hit. Excellent food, nice presentation and the prix fixe dinner was perfect for traveling on an expense account. However, I have to laugh if this is considered

This is our go to restaurant when we have guests and want a full course, high quality dinner. It is our go to restaurant when we just want to sit in the Taverna, have a light menu and listen to the music. The staff is attentive, the food is fresh and of good quality, and the owners really care that... More

For the #1 Greek restaurant in Albany, I expected better. Have been to Greece several times, visited 17 islands and most of the sites in the Southern half of the country. The first thing you see upon entry is a warning that casual attire will require you to sit in the "Taverna" section!? That's okay, but there's nothing rustic about... More

I got the fish of the day. They broiled it, brought it out, and deboned it right in front of me. It wasn't fishy in the least and the seasoning didn't overwhelm the natural flavor. It was very good. My wife got the moussaka which was tasty and cooked perfectly.

Brazini, whole fish from the Mediterranean Ocean, cooked over open flame, deboned at table and drizzled with olive oil and lemon. Perfect, and too much to eat in one meal. Braised Lamb Shank in earthenware pot. Tender and rich, with orzo in light tomato sauce. Perfect. And Charlie, the waiter, a pro. A real pro. You're going to want to... More

I was dying to try this restaurant because of it's rating on this site, and it was not disappointing. My boyfriend and I opted to sit in the bar area with the booths compared to the white tablecloth dining room. Our server/bartender Ray was knowledgeable, funny and recommended great items to choose on our first visit. We started with the... More

We had no idea of what the food would be like when we made these reservations - just that it was Greek and a drive from Albany (where we were visiting), We were surprised, very pleasantly. The service was excellent, the wine list very reasonable, the decor was charming, not very noisy - easy place to have a conversation, the... More

This was the first time I've been to Athos and my wife and I were really impressed. We ordered appetizers of lamb kreotapita and island fritters, both were very tasty, especially the lamb. Our entrees were moussaka and chicken sagnaki which were also really good with sauteed vegetables and rice that were much more flavorful than typical side dishes. The... More

My wife and I went to Athos, for the first time, and we'd DEFINITELY return. The food was great. I had the mussels for an appetizer and the seabass for dinner, which came with table-side service. My wife had a fantastic shrimp dish. Our waiter, Jay, was OUTSTANDING from the very beginning. He has a commanding knowledge of the menu,... More
