I always like to give a balanced opinion of anyplace I dine, but keep in mind, I am a foodie, I know how to cook, I am price conscious, and know good restaurants and staff. I dined here yesterday evening for the first time. It was a date setting. We arrived slightly before 5 o'clock because we were going to... More

My wife and I originally fell in love with Ric Orlando's restaurants when we visited the 'Mothership,' New World Home Cooking in Saugerties, NY way back when. Since then, we've been hooked. We come here just about once a month and always swear to try something different before we end up getting the same things we always get. Luckily, the... More

We have been to New World many times over the years(gave it a great review in October, 2012) and have always liked it, so this meal to celebrate a graduation was a huge disappointment. It started when the hostess wanted us to sit at the worst table in the house(immediately adjacent to the service bar). This table is too cramped... More

I've been a fan of Ric Orlando's cooking since he ran the kitchen at Justin's in the last century. I have his hand written recipe for his Ropa Vieja on my refrigerator. His menu is great at the New World Bistro, and the portions are huge. I still like the burger with bacon and cheese when I'm not in the... More

We had dinner on a Monday night, with reservations for four. Our wait staff was fantastic, service was right on and competent. Our food was excellent -- particularly the "soup of the day" a spicy chorizo. All of the entrees were spectacular from the seafood to rib eye, so the food is definitely a reason to return. Unfortunately, our experience... More

What a fun eatery, with some interesting and very delicious dishes! We were in Albany for just an evening and choose this spot after reading reviews for restaurants in the city. It was a small headache to get there (Friday rush hour traffic), but there is parking right behind the restaurant, and the place was a-buzz when we got there.... More

The prices are high and the food is strange. That said, if you are an adventurous eater and like spicy food that you can't pronounce, you will enjoy your experience here. The atmosphere is homey rustic, the hipster staff are quite attentive. Parking is tight on weekends in the lot, but there is almost always street parking. Make sure you... More

I ate here while in Albany for business. The restaurant has a good beer list, and the food was delicious. I had a hard time deciding what to order because so many of the entrees looked worth trying! The environment is nice, and I'd consider it upscale casual dining - not fancy, but not totally casual either. I'd definitely recommend... More

The restaurant is one of the best available in Albany. The food is great, freshly prepared, and very often locally sourced. It is great if you are gluten free, too. Overall the place is a bit noisy, but the food is so good, I keep going back. Drinks and beer selection are also quite good.

Nwb is a favorite, consistently good food. Always love the soups. Main menu could use some new salad and appetizer choices. Maybe cocktails too. To us an easy go to. Our first choice in albany.
