Sushi Tei is a traditional Japanese restaurant located in Albany, NY. We feature fresh, healthy Japanese food (eat in or take-out). Wine, sake and various imported beers are also available for your refreshment. Sushi is a small piece of raw fish or shellfish on a bed of vinegared rice. This can be eaten as is, or is often dipped into soy sauce and then eaten. Sushi is based on the belief that nature cannot be improved, and is usually very simple. Therefore, great care is put into the creation, arrangement and the many methods of preparing the food. The finished appearance is also very important because the natural beauty and taste must not be lost, but enhanced!

Consistently Excellent.

This is our go-to place for excellent sushi. We have occasionally dined in, but mostly order to go. Dining in means good service, but a cramped dining experience. But whether dining in or to go, you will get the same high quality, excellent food that you would hope for. We come back here again... read more

We went based on 4.5 avg rating. It wasn't our experience. Cozy but tight, with about 12-15 tables depending how they broke up. Nice that they put cute screens between tables that are very close to give a better sense of privacy. Had a l-shaped sushi bar to sit at but the walls were so high you'd miss any experience... More

I ordered the spicy tuna and spicy crab crunch rolls. Their spicy tuna roll is hands down the best tuna roll that I've ever had. My only complaint/word of advice is to avoid the "crunch" option. This is the second time that I've ordered a roll with crunch and the crunch was 50-60% of the piece of sushi. It's just... More

Have been to this restaurant a few times. It's not very big, but has very good food. Maybe they believe in quality over quantity. I usually get the teriyaki dinners and have never been disappointed. You'll probably be smart to get a reservation for a weekend dinner. I've gone there with friends and family. No one has ever had anything... More

Been to this restaurant several times when I visit Albany on a business trip. It's a good restaurant for lunch. Reasonable price and good taste.

My husband and I have been coming here since 2009. It's a tiny spot and the tables are awkwardly close together but that has never bothered us. Over the last 6 months, we've realized their quality seems to be lacking. The rolls seem to get smaller and smaller and a place that once never mixed up an order for us... More

I arrived quite late for dinner, at around 21:40, and nevertheless the staff greeted me with a smile. I was very lucky picking that restaurant, I could not imagine I could get this quality food at that time of the day!

I went there this past weekend with my boyfriend and we ordered the sushi for two.. I don't know if it was because we were there an hour before closing but the sushi was horrible it was super dry and chewy, it didn't feel fresh at all. They're sushi rolls were good but not good enough to make us go... More

We recently went to Sushi Tei for lunch. They have great lunch specials. We ordered the Teriyaki Salmon and the Salmon Don with a mini udon soup with shrimp tempura. Both were great! The restaurant is small but cozy. The staff was friendly. Looking forward to returning soon for another delicious lunch special!

This restaurant is small but the food is always excellant. Fresh and flavorful and the service is great. Friendly and fast service especially when on your lunch time. I have been there many times and have never been disappointed.
