Description: The Plantation House has been lovingly restored based on its original...
The Plantation House has been lovingly restored based on its original plans, and actually rests on its original foundations. The 200-year-old trees which line the Bilenbi Avenue are untouched and are on the site's original site plans. The property is also home to a beautiful garden from which our chefs proudly source their fresh herbs and spices. Takamaka Bay, our fabulously Seychellois rum, came to life in 2001 and was inspired by the D'Offay family recipe. It is used both in La Plaine St. Andre's bar and kitchen. By day, the grounds of La Plaine provide a tranquil setting for a day away from the beach - our petanque court pays tribute to our French heritage, our garden surrounding the historic ruins is a treasure trove for the nature-lover in you and our distillery is open to be explored from Mondays to Fridays. When the sun sets, the ambience of our restaurant changes dramatically; enjoy an intimate meal in our private dining room or on our softly lit terrace or an Al Fresco dinner under the stars.

There are few restaurants in the isle of Mahe where you can have good food, however the service and the attention to the ambience is usually very poor, with the exeption of the luxury resorts. We went for lunch at the Plaine of St. Andre and the experience there was really unique. You can have a table in the old... More

We rambled in here drawn by the advertisement for the Takamaka rum. We met Telma, who was to be our waitress, and who provided an excellent customer service. The atmosphere was one of "really glad you are with us today". The food was the best we had on Mahe! The menu is quite varied. My friend had grilled fish trio... More

Unfortunately, when we went, the restaurant was closed for a private function. However, I did have the opportunity to participate in the rum distillery tour and sample the fine rum available there. The distillery itself is quite small, but it was neat learning how the different rum flavours can be achieved. Sampling the rum was excellent; the spiced rum and... More

We enjoyed the food and the rum! We went for an evening meal, it was a great venue and had a nice relaxed atmosphere. The food was good, I had grilled fish which was massive, there was a fairly good choice, but ended up giving up pudding in favour of another cocktail. There was a much bigger selection of both... Only the opening hours are weird (11am-4.30pm) but if you can get there in this period you find a very nice place, kind waitresses and very good food. We paid 1.300 for the two of us with sweets

We first have been to La Plaine St Andre to buy the typical rum of Seychelles. We have been warmly welcomed and have some tasting to find the right rum! The atmosphere was already so nice that we decided to go back to dinner the day after... What an incredible and beautiful evening!!! From the food (very good typical creole... More

This is a restaurant in an old colonial house (creaky floors, huge shutters, etc) that is also now a rum distillery. We were recommended to the place by a friend who had been there before. It did not disappoint! Excellent service, gorgeous atmosphere and really lovely food made with local ingredients (including fruit bat)! They also had PASTIS on the... More
