Description: The Plantation House has been lovingly restored based on its original...
The Plantation House has been lovingly restored based on its original plans, and actually rests on its original foundations. The 200-year-old trees which line the Bilenbi Avenue are untouched and are on the site's original site plans. The property is also home to a beautiful garden from which our chefs proudly source their fresh herbs and spices. Takamaka Bay, our fabulously Seychellois rum, came to life in 2001 and was inspired by the D'Offay family recipe. It is used both in La Plaine St. Andre's bar and kitchen. By day, the grounds of La Plaine provide a tranquil setting for a day away from the beach - our petanque court pays tribute to our French heritage, our garden surrounding the historic ruins is a treasure trove for the nature-lover in you and our distillery is open to be explored from Mondays to Fridays. When the sun sets, the ambience of our restaurant changes dramatically; enjoy an intimate meal in our private dining room or on our softly lit terrace or an Al Fresco dinner under the stars.

The meal you will remember from Seychelles

I was in Seychelles 4 years ago and this was the only place that I remember my meal from. I went back this year and had another great meal. I definitely recommend this to anyone looking for great food and rum.

The owner has changed, and the new ones are mew and not prepared. They change also chefs and cooks. Long time waiting for some dishes very untasty. They have to learn a lot, and to improve the staff with people of the cousine's world the restaurant have lost his poetry.

Having heard that the place has a new management, we decided to give it a try last week. Well we really regretted it. The only good thing about this restaurant is the setting that is absolutely charming. However we should have left at that point, when we still had a good impression. The older woman who has taken over the... More

We paid $18 for 2 pieces of fish no larger than 2 fingers, only the top knuckles. Total ripoff. The building is beautiful and decorated very nicely, but it doesn't justify the price. Our main courses were better, but it still didn't live up to the price for me. Wish we would have spent the money elsewhere.

The restaurant serves good contemporary cuisine with a local flavour. The setting is in a historic house which has been remarkably well restored. The bar has a legendary cocktail menu!

We made a special trip back to this restaurant for lunch as the first time we visited we were too early for dinner. The older woman who greeted us and was our waitress was extremely unwelcoming, unhelpful and quite miserable overall. Having spent a week on Mahe, we met so many lovely, sweet and kind locals. She couldn't be bothered... More

Beautiful old plantation house with the fascination of colonial architecture, great atmosphere and setting. We did the rum tour of the distillery, one of the best trips in Seychelles. After the tour we got to try the rum which was very pleasant. The spiced rum was interesting but we bought a couple of bottles of the very fine 8 year... More

This was within walking distance of our accommodation so we visited numerous times, we visited as a bar, also a lunch time and for dinner. This is the home of Takamaka rum, it's a old style plantation house that has been refurbed to a very high standard but has retained most if not all its character, there is a porch... More

The best things about this place are the surroundings and its ambience, especially in the evening with candles and the music band playing. Service was outstanding too. The food was delicious however more expensive. We can recommend Grilled Beef Tournedos, Duck ‘a l ’Orange as well as Fruit Bat Ravioli. We did not like the Passion Fruit Mousse that much... More

This is a consistently reliable restaurant in an elegant plantation house setting. Enjoy a rum cocktail (this is also a rum distillery) on the front veranda before moving to a table and enjoying a good range of options from the menu, which also include local speciality such as fruit bat(!) and local fresh fish. The steak is always good, as... More
