Certificate of Excellence 2014
Dining options: Reservations, Late Night
Description: The Plantation House has been lovingly restored based on its original plans, and actually rests on its original foundations. The 200-year-old trees which line the Bilenbi Avenue are untouched and are on the site's original site plans. The property is also home to a beautiful garden from which our chefs proudly source their fresh herbs and spices. Takamaka Bay, our fabulously Seychellois rum, came to life in 2001 and was inspired by the D'Offay family recipe. It is used both in La Plaine St. Andre's bar and kitchen. By day, the grounds of La Plaine provide a tranquil setting for a day away from the beach - our petanque court pays tribute to our French heritage, our garden surrounding the historic ruins is a treasure trove for the nature-lover in you and our distillery is open to be explored from Mondays to Fridays. When the sun sets, the ambience of our restaurant changes dramatically; enjoy an intimate meal in our private dining room or on our softly lit terrace or an Al Fresco dinner under the stars.

This is a restaurant in an old colonial house (creaky floors, huge shutters, etc) that is also now a rum distillery. We were recommended to the place by a friend who had been there before. It did not disappoint! Excellent service, gorgeous atmosphere and really lovely food made with local ingredients (including fruit bat)! They also had PASTIS on the... More

This restaurant was recommended to us by the hotel we were staying at and it was also the closest one as we were staying on the south east side of Mahe near the airport ....so we gave it a go! The staff are very friendly and the food was very enjoyable! It was certainly very popular and filled up very... More

We went to this establishment twice for lunch during our stay on Mahe. Our first meal was better with the desired meals all being available. We were very satisfied with all of our selections that encouraged us to visit a second time. Our second time there wasn't as good with the beef tournedos (which is usually small pieces of beef)... We have been at La Plaine on a Friday evening with very good friends. We started the night with a beautiful cocktail on the Veranda of the restaurant. Very friendly service and delicious drinks! Then we ordered our food and have been guided to our table after we finished our drinks. Here a great band was waiting with even better... More

Absolutely the best mojito I have ever consumed! The character of the rum made there on the premises adds but the skill of the bartender is obvious as well. When I asked they said they make their own syrups which was also in evidence. Following a wonderful dinner, sitting in back of the refurbished plantation house, I sipped some of... More

We visited this place for dinner, and really liked the ambience. The charm of the place lies in its heritage. It has a beautiful setting in a building dating more than a 100 years! The food is great. The rum is fresh. The freshly baked bread is awesome. Do try some of the authentic creole food here, especially the creole... More

Great looking place, all potentials. Romantic setting. One of the nicest seen on the island. The food is another story, for example: We ordered pumpkin coconut soup and bouillabaise. Both tasted like water. Tasteless and no stock used. Staff did nothing with our friendly comment. For the main course we had the noisette pork, it was overcooked and hard as... More
