I figured since I was in New Mexico where there is a large hispanic population that all of the mexican restaurants would have authentic, amazing food. But I just so happened to find the one place that didn't. Salsa is very easy to make, so it irritates me when restaurants serve salsa that is not homemade. I'm pretty sure this... More

Pretty much the worst wannabe Mexican restaurant ever. The salsa tastes like tomato sauce from a can and the chips are stale and cold. The vibe and dynamics in the restaurant are like racist Texas twenty years ago. Mostly, food is horrible.

We had dinner here with friends who recently moved to the area. The location is nice... It is clear the community is really working on the long term image of the city. One of three major bronze sculptures, El Vaquero, is right near the entrance. It is a beautiful work. We really appreciated the service. They're friendly and accommodating. The... More

We have eaten at la Fonda for many years and go there any time we visit Artesia. The food is great, and we were able to make reservations for a large family gathering. It is our family tradition and we just love it. Also all around the restaurant are the sculptures, fun for a post-meal stroll.

Have eaten there since the '60s...when it was some of the best Mexican food in the state. Has changed ownership several times...good/bad/good/bad...currently mediocre. Clean with great decor. Service is dependent on who's working...generally fair. Food is below par, pricing is above par.

Wife and I were in there. I had not been in here in many years. Ordered a stuffed sopapilla and it was NOT. Wife's dish made her sick. DO NOT GO HERE.

I live around Albuquerque and I have a lot of family it Texas. We decided this would be a good place for us all to meet up as some of us were visiting Bottomless Lakes and others Carlsbad Caverns. First, they don't have beer or wine -- which we can live with as my cousins are from a dry county.... More

We live here and I'd say we eat at La Fonda on the average of once every two weeks. It has good food and good service. It is often crowded, which indicates it popularity. My favorite is the green chile enchiladas with white sauce. Their guacamole is the best anywhere. Nice atmosphere and reasonalble prices.
