Mouth watering

I will never again eat store bought humus the standard is set high now. This is the best humus I have had yet in Israel and I have tried 3 or4 places. The atmosphere is a true Israel experience.

When my husband first took a job in Israel, his coworkers took him here, which they said had the best hummus in all of Israel. We adore this place. The staff is nice and extremely efficient, the atmosphere is totally cool (you share a table with strangers and pass each other napkins- very tiny place with people who love the... More

That's the menu, and it is delicious. One of the best I've ever eaten. Eat it with raw onion and pita, and order a drink. Be prepared to wait. The place is small and the lines are long. It's worth the wait and the house special avoids the dilemma of deciding what to eat.

On our taxi ride to Old Jaffa, we asked our driver for the best Hummus in the area; without hesitation he drove us to Abu Chassan. Truth is that 10 days into our trip, I could have skipped the hummus lunch, but my co-travelers needed another fix before we flew home. If I had to eat it, this was the... More

Good warm hummos. The fries were amazing. The service was quick and right to the point. The bill is given to you verbally which I found incredible. Love it!

Crowded with locals. Huge portions, good taste. Not the place for romantic dinners but a good and welcoming atmosphere.

Luckily, some friends took us to Abu Hassan otherwise I'd never have noticed it. Quick in an out place that serves just hummus in every possible form. It was Saturday morning so we were served a warm hummus with some chickpea pieces in it and oil (has a name but I can't remember it). Tasted wonderful, was enough to last... More

This fabled hole in the wall restaurant is all about consistency. Consistently $5 for the outstanding Hummus plate, pile of pita stacked high and a soda, community tables, the long line of people waiting outside patiently in line, direct and no frill service, etc. Nothing appears to have changed and it appears nothing ever will. Why change a winning team?

Note: Every thing I am writing and wrote is my opinion, taste and experience only and could be different to others. I can't count how many times I ate in Abu Chassan or in his other name Ali Karavan which it is the first name. I am eating here for more than 15 years and usually I order the Misabaha.... More
