We ate here often while in Makassar. You get to choose your own seafood which they then BBQ. It's fun sitting at the long tables and meeting the locals who turn up in great numbers to eat here. The food is superb and the staff helpful with suggestions (even though most don't speak English).

I'm not a big fan of seafood... So, when they offer me for fish, I deny it, so I choose a roasted prawn (udang bakar) with rice... The prawn taste fresh and they serve it with 3 different kind of sauce... I love the peanut sauce, and tomato sauce... It gives a deep flavored, but I found the chili sauce... More

The restaurant location is near the losari beach, just in front of our hotel, Fave Hotel Daeng Tompo. The seafood is very delicious, simple BBQ with 3 kind of sambals (chilli sauce). According to a friend, Lae Lae is still consider cheap in Makassar, and definitely must try if you come to Makassar!

Although Lea Lea doesn't look like much from the outside - and is hardly palatial on the inside, the food it serves is fresh and delicious. Choose your own fish from the ice buckets and then watch them get de-scaled, cleaned and grilled outside on the 'BBQ'. The Oleh-Oleh (fish roe with peppers grilled in Pandam leaf) is also excellent.... More

Fish was fresh, but condiments needs to be improved. Also cashier has no line so practically no queue which can be a bummer. Probably would return

I am a business traveler to Makassar since 1990. I had been to this restaurant for few years but the cleanliness never changed. All fish are fresh but taste average. Because of that, I have never gone back to this Lae Lae restaurant except I am invited by our local friends. The atmosphere is not a place where you want... More

After many recommendations we had to try Lae Lae. It feels very fresh to pick out the fish and shrimp and have them grilled. What we got served were indeed well grilled, but the taste was missing out on something although we got a few sauces on the side. I also dislike not having any prices on their menu, got... More

Tasty. Inexpensive. The fried ones are better than the grilled one. There are 3 selection of sambals. The staff needs to be trained on how to take order and explain their food well.

Having read the reviews in Tripadvisor, we planned not to dine in this place. Yet we happened to stay in newly-opened Fave Hotel, just across the street thus we gave it shot. This place is indeed as poorly reviewed by others. Don't expect the good atmosphere, decent price and service, if you're tourist and want to explore the local food.... More

The location is close with favehotel Daeng Tompo, It was recommended by them to eat fish with Makassar style. But apparently nothing special. No one taking care of my order?? The staff need training how to serve the customer, how to treat customer, care with what the customers order. I just sitting with my kid but no one care of... More
