Old world charm

Great food n place, both are authentic in old world/ colonial style. The service is OK but there's still room for improvement.

Toko Oen is a restaurant with colonial atmosphere. Most old people will recognize the atmosphere as soon as they enter the dinning room. The owner keeps the chairs & tables as they were before the World War II. The foods they serve mostly remind us at the food were wellknown during dutch colonial, and with dutch names. The taste of... They also serve traditional cookies and excellent ice cream. As i remembered, their steak is good, but the last time im back the sauce isnt the same anymore. I guess they change their sauce-recipe. They still maintaining the old concept, Old building in the Old City. Good for tourists. MY fave is poffertjes and kattetonge (white bread egg).

This is my 2nd time to toko oen. First time we try the food was so so, but I like the snacks sooo much reminding me of my childhood. I even buy some cookies for my grandma 😁 Defenitly will buy the cookies again!

'Toko Oen' was open in 1936 in Semarang. You simply must visit this place if you're a tourist. This place is a landmark in Semarang and it used to be a popular place for Dutch people during their colonisation in Indonesia. Please enjoy the inheritance in this place, not the food.

Old style resto, with many recommended menu: poffercis for appetizers, pork chop for main course, and tutti fruity ice cream for dessert! Trust me!

I love to see how the owner family keep this restaurant with its original shape. It's really nice to see the old clock, to listen to old Indonesian song, to feel the atmosphere while eat nasi goreng and taste the legend ice cream for lunch.
