Cafe Wayan and Bakery

Established in 1986
We are happy to have had so many nice guests come to enjoy our food for over 28 years.

Cafe Wayan started as a small warung (a local food stall) where Ibu Wayan sold black rice pudding and coffee to the rice farmers on what has now become Monkey Forest Road.
Tourist began walking down "the path" to the Monkey Forest and stopped by for a coffee, snacks or to buy peanuts for the monkeys.
Ibu Wayans always love to cook as a child and soon the menu began to expand. Return friends to Ubud began helping with recipes of western dishes as long term visitors and residents sometimes miss their own food too.
Ibu Wayan began traveling abroad and learned more western cooking with Chef Joe Schultz of India Joes's restaurant in Santa Cruz, California and also learned the art of Thai cuisine in Bangkok.

Wonderful Service +Yummy food

I was there for lunch in Feb 2016. The waitress were extremely friendly (all smiles) and the food was relly delicious. Especially the chocolate cakes, very rich in favor. The price is reasonable for the service, food and setting. Totally recommend this restaurant for those visiting ubud.

Omg. Try the nasi goreng that was semi deconstructed. Fantastic with amazing peanut sauce. Try the wayan special cocktail.

Cafe Wayan has the most atmospheric garden setting for a restaurant and it was a pleasant experience to dine there. On Sundays, they serve a traditional Balinese buffet and the food was excellent. Helped myself to a total of 4 servings & I was pretty stuffed at the end. Service was attentive and dirty plates were cleared promptly.

my wife and I have eaten here on several occasions and we have never been disappointed. The setting is incredible like eating in the garden ask to sit out back away from the road and you enter a little gem. The food is also of a high standard and offers a good mix of balinese and western dishes.enjoy.my fave gazpacho... More

We enjoyed a very nice lunch in this old time favourite in Ubud. Age comes with quality. An oasis in the hustle and bustle of Ubud along Monkey Forest Road...

We had dinner here in the garden area. Staff was very nice and the garden is quite, a nice place to relax. However, we have not been convinced by the food - too greasy, not very tasteful. I personnaly do much better job with spices but keep in mind this is an opinion of one single dinner.

Fish is stale, garlic prawns are really small. My hotel reception introduced to us and says he always go there himself?! Seriously?! With that kind of price, it's almost criminal to charge a local. Avoid at all cost.

Totally not worst it. Too overpriced. We ordered 5 dish between four people. All was terrible or below average. Too much surcharge as well. They had the smallest prawns for garlic prawns and mahi mahi fish was overcook and stale. And special salad was probably left over stuff from breakfast they served. Super stale bread and somehow stale and old... More

The service was very good and welcoming. Atmosphere is perfect (night/day) if you want a Balinese theme dine in with or without family. The Indonesian food was well done and served. The pizza was so so, but I will still go back here
