Cafe Wayan and Bakery Established in 1986 We are happy to have had so many nice guests come to enjoy our food for over 28 years. Cafe Wayan started as a small warung (a local food stall) where Ibu Wayan sold black rice pudding and coffee to the rice farmers on what has now become Monkey Forest Road. Tourist began walking down "the path" to the Monkey Forest and stopped by for a coffee, snacks or to buy peanuts for the monkeys. Ibu Wayans always love to cook as a child and soon the menu began to expand. Return friends to Ubud began helping with recipes of western dishes as long term visitors and residents sometimes miss their own food too. Ibu Wayan began traveling abroad and learned more western cooking with Chef Joe Schultz of India Joes's restaurant in Santa Cruz, California and also learned the art of Thai cuisine in Bangkok.

Beautiful setting, food was abit of a letdown

Beautiful setting in a garden, sitting on our own in the pouring. Attentive and friendly staff, however the food was a little bit of a letdown. Ordered the special indonesian plate. Cost 125000rp. Per person. Only had 2 pork sate, some prawns, 1 tiny tuna thing and some plain rice. Very over... read more

keep on walking, to the back, further down...the garden gets lovelier the deeper into the garden you sit. we had a table two bales from the back wall and we had a little terrace of ponds right in front of us. there was a perfect riot of flowers and foliage surrounding us...and it amazes how much privacy a properly spaced... The food here is really excellent. We ate outside in the never ending candle lit garden. We ate sitting on suctions at a low table at a private pavilion. It was magical. The food was indonesian and also western but the Indonesian food was easy not too spicy. It was also reasonably priced.

Great choice of local food and staff friendly. They have beautiful gardens to sit and eat and its a real oasis in the middle of a busy street. Food was great and lots of choice and reasonable prices.

I have been coming to Cafe Wayan for nearly 30 years and you can always get an authentic Balinese meal in a beautiful setting with good service. The entrance belies the wonderful water features and gardens which stretch down to the back of the property making it a good location for a quiet and serene atmosphere on busy Jalan Monkey... More

We went there twice. First time was to have some cakes, coffee and fruit juice. While they were good, they were nothing special. We went back few days later to have lunch. And we enjoyed that more. Nasi Campur was big portion and very tasty. Fantastic place, tonnes of space and in the shade, which was very welcome after a... More

Our family have been coming back to this restaurant every few years and they provide the same level of care and attention each and every time. The food is wonderful and they cater well for children who are fussy eaters. The staff are great with the kids and will even entertain them with magic tricks if your lucky.

We spent our last night in Ubud here having read about death by chocolate! Had a lovely meal and some cocktails but was really only here for the cake! Sadly had sold out, opted for a coconut pie.. Also sold out. Now I have left Ubud! Looks like I will have to come back. Only took me two years to... More

A lot of restaurants on this main road are hit and miss with the food. Usually the nicer the frontage, the poorer the dining experience. Fortunately for us our masseuse recommended this very unassuming cafe. Upon entering you get led down a path to the most glorious hideaway garden. The place is absolutely buzzing. Diners are seated at tables or... More
