Description: Cafe Wayan and Bakery Established in 1986 We are happy to have had so many nice guests come to enjoy our food for over 27 years. Cafe Wayan started as a small warung (a local food stall) where Ibu Wayan sold black rice pudding and coffee to the rice farmers on what has now become Monkey Forest Road. Tourist began walking down "the path" to the Monkey Forest and stopped by for a coffee, snacks or to buy peanuts for the monkeys. Ibu Wayans always love to cook as a child and soon the menu began to expand. Return friends to Ubud began helping with recipes of western dishes as long term visitors and residents sometimes miss their own food too. Ibu Wayan began traveling abroad and learned more western cooking with Chef Joe Schultz of India Joes's restaurant in Santa Cruz, California and also learned the art of Thai cuisine in Bangkok.

We enjoyed the atmosphere here, and the food was quite good, and reasonably priced. When we arrived, we found out most people had reservations. To sit at one of the traditional Balinese tables on the floor, you have to have on, so I recommend reserving in advance! The only thing we were a bit disappointed with was our server. The... More

Have been here in the past several times. But it has been 4 years since the last time. Service was very slow. Took 25 minutes to get my appetizer - which was 2 spring rolls. Then another 55 minutes to get one of our main meals - with the 2nd meal arriving 15 minutes later. Spring rolls were bland as... More

The setting of this restaurant is just beautiful. We had dinner under a gazebo where you sit on the floor. The ambience is lovely however it is a bit too dark. I found it difficult to see what I was eating. The food was nice, nothing super flash but still good. I would definitely return however I would go for... More

Big garden and nice atmosphere. Good food but ice tea just like cold black tea, they bring something too sugar it up but that doesn't make the taste.

Wished I had visited before our last night as I would have eaten here several times. Great local food, cold drinks and friendly efficient and pleasant staff. The restaurant reaches to the back of the block so ask for a table further back in the garden if possible. There are several small private tables for couples or small groups. A... More

Whilst in Ubud, 2 different places told me that The Cafe Wayan was the place to go for food/drink. I'm glad I took their advice. This is an awesome find, a Garden of Eden, where when your in the gardens, all you can hear is the birds, and the fountains. I visited this cafe once, and then went back 5... More

The food was lovely especially the black rice pudding ( it's a dessert but lovely to fill you up for breakfast) the staff were brilliant spending more time playing my with my 5 year... More

The deco in the restaurant is in traditional Balinese architecture and design which give you strong taste of Balinese culture. Menu is extensive with good service. We ordered nasi goreng and nasi campur (mixed rice) which is very delicious. Both of the dish comes with chicken satay, fried chicken, vegetables in coconut sauce and "sambal" chili sauce. We ended our... More
