Cafe Wayan and Bakery Established in 1986 We are happy to have had so many nice guests come to enjoy our food for over 28 years. Cafe Wayan started as a small warung (a local food stall) where Ibu Wayan sold black rice pudding and coffee to the rice farmers on what has now become Monkey Forest Road. Tourist began walking down "the path" to the Monkey Forest and stopped by for a coffee, snacks or to buy peanuts for the monkeys. Ibu Wayans always love to cook as a child and soon the menu began to expand. Return friends to Ubud began helping with recipes of western dishes as long term visitors and residents sometimes miss their own food too. Ibu Wayan began traveling abroad and learned more western cooking with Chef Joe Schultz of India Joes's restaurant in Santa Cruz, California and also learned the art of Thai cuisine in Bangkok.

More than a Cafe and Bakery

This is a great place with heaps of history. It is very authentic at the same time very international. There are many little eating nooks dotted throughout some gorgeous tropical gardens too.

Had late lunch there after visiting the Monkey Forest 8) You have to check this place out if you're in the area. The ambiance is wonderful and you feel soo relaxed sitting and eating (especially after our long day!). Thanks to Julia Roberts for letting us know about Wayan Cafe ;pp

the restaurant is nice, typical Balinese. The food is nice and caters to everyone. The Balinese food is tasty and portions are quitte generous. Their ice creams are delicious, they've got unusual homemade flavours. Service is good and the waiters are quite pleasant. Prices are very reasonable, drinks aren't too expansive either - don't drink the local wine it tastes... More

We stumbled across this cafe one day and the food and service were so good we took friends there the next day. The tables are set in a tropical garden - and our table of ten was in its own pagoda which was beautiful and all you could hear was the sounds of the fountains. Lovely to be away from... More

We went for a late lunch on a rainy afternoon. A very spacious restaurant & lovely natural feel. Food was good but not outsanding. Our server was exceptionally attentive though, especially with our dietary restrictions. We had a mix of indonesian food & I think Thai food. We had an appetiser plate, basil prawns with rice & chicken with rice.... More

Went twice. One for dinner and another time for lunch. Tried their fried noodles which was delicious and nasi campur which was great. Black rice pudding is yummy too. Pizza is just average. Service is inconsistent, depends on who serves you. Our first visit we had great service but second visit service was average. I had the feeling they had some... More

Ate here on our first night in Ubud and had a beautiful meal in a lovely setting. Staff were super friendly, particularly with our 2 girls and our meals were really tasty and great value. 2 course meal for 4 of us plus 2 cocktails and soft drinks cost $65 which we thought was excellent value. Definitely recommend and look... More
