Cafe Wayan and Bakery Established in 1986 We are happy to have had so many nice guests come to enjoy our food for over 28 years. Cafe Wayan started as a small warung (a local food stall) where Ibu Wayan sold black rice pudding and coffee to the rice farmers on what has now become Monkey Forest Road. Tourist began walking down "the path" to the Monkey Forest and stopped by for a coffee, snacks or to buy peanuts for the monkeys. Ibu Wayans always love to cook as a child and soon the menu began to expand. Return friends to Ubud began helping with recipes of western dishes as long term visitors and residents sometimes miss their own food too. Ibu Wayan began traveling abroad and learned more western cooking with Chef Joe Schultz of India Joes's restaurant in Santa Cruz, California and also learned the art of Thai cuisine in Bangkok.

Plenty of space in a cool garden setting and these people know hospitality. It's a cafe style menu but nothing is a problem. Tell them what you want, and they'll deliver! Great service with a smile.

My husband and I saw Cafe Wayan while shopping in Ubud. When my husband learned that they had an Indonesian buffet, he was thrilled and we made reservations for later that evening. I recommend making reservations as the restaurant gets busy and large families show up. The dinner buffet was spectacular with salads, three kinds of rice, two kinds of... More

We have stayed on Monkey Forrest Road many times but never been to Café Wayan. A big mistake. It is great. The restaurant is long and set in lush gardens. Tables are spread out making it very private and peaceful. We had dinner - I had the 'special of the day' Duck Potato Curry - it was delicious with and... More

We went for dinner one evening during our Ubud stay, my heart sank when my husband said he had booked for us at the Indonesian buffet night, but it was really delicious & my fears were unfounded. Everything seemed homemade, and we all went back for seconds it was so good, especially the smoked duck and satė. Would really recommend,... More

The menu was extensive - so something for everyone. Food delicious, ambience lovely and service is attentive (but not over the top).

This typical Indonesian Restaurant welcomes you with carefully selected authentic interiors, overshadowed courts, an attentive service, menues with fresh prepared Indonesian specialities and a large selection of fruit, sweets and home made ice cream. Whether you decide for low tables or normal chairs: whatever comes up to your table is delightful, comfortably spiced or well cooled.
