Description: Murni opened Ubud's first real restaurant in 1974 and it remains first in the hearts of many people today. The menu is varied and delicious and you can enjoy your drinks and meals and surf the Web using the free WiFi on one of four levels overlooking the river.Level 1When you enter Murni's Warung, the first thing you'll notice is the view of the greenery on the river's hillside. The steel cable in the foreground supports the bridge next door.On the way to your table, you'll walk past a display cabinet of cakes and pastries that you should take a look at -- just so you'll know how much room to save for dessert. The restaurant is decorated with art from Murni's collection, including the small carvings high on the walls.Level 2The large statue of Ganesha, the Elephant God, that greets you in the lounge was commissioned in 1997 and completed in early 2002. He and Murni are about the same height.Level 3We generally reserve this level for parties or when the Warung is overflowing.Level 4And finally you arrive just above the river. You'll enjoy the sound of flowing water with your candlelit dinner in the midst of exotic surroundings.

If you are normally used to clean eating and sourcing fresh/organic meats/vegetables - you will be disappointed. Me and my group ordered a couple of dishes that included fish and plenty of vegetables. Sad to say the quality of the food was much below par than a lot of the places I ate in Ubud. Like I said, you will... More

We discovered Murni's Warung on our last day in Ubud and really wish we'd found it sooner. It's located by a river and about a 10 min walk to central Ubud. The restaurant itself is spread over 3 levels (or was it 4?), all with lovely views overlooking the river below. The menu features an extensive range of Indonesian and... More

We came to this beautiful, rustic restaurant for lunch. The restaurant is situated just by the bridge towards Antonio Blanco museum. It has several floors downwards form the ground floor three floors down towards the river. If you can get a table, definitely go to the lowest floor, where you will enjoy your meals with the sound of the river... More

My mum and I at here last Saturday. Mum had just spent 5 days in hospital in Denpasar and we decided to travel to Ubud for the day because Mum had eaten here before. She didn't have much appetite after her hospital stay but she knew she would eat if we came here. I was really impressed with the food.... More

Thank you for coming from Sanur and I hope that your mother has fully recovered from her time in hospital. I'm glad that she's visited us before and also that you were really impressed with the food. Also good that the restaurant was exceptionally clean, as were the bathrooms. We are looking forward to your next visit. Murni More

Now, let me tell you that I have travelled around all over the world. I love food, and these are the best spring rolls I have ever had. I met this nice woman from New Zealand, while I was in Bali and she recommended this place to me. She said that I MUST go. So I ended up going with... More

Still there after many years, Murni's is a respectable choice. We had a birthday party there for one of a group of artists. More traditional Balinese food, not spectacular, but dependable. Nice store with quality handcrafts and antiques in front of restaurant which opens on the Tjampuhan River ravine.

We arrived at Murni's Houses after the long series of flights from Oregon. We were hungry, but too tired to venture very far. Lucky for us, Murni's Warung was just minutes away. This was our first time in Bali, but I must say that the wait staff made us feel like old friends! Our first meal of Indonesian food was... More

We have visited Murni's restaurant before, this time we came for the apple cake which was absolutely delicious, would love to have the recipe!! The setting here is quite spectacular on three levels, overlooking the river and bank with tropical greens.

Thank you for coming back to Murni's Warung. I'm delighted that you like the Apple Pie. I must admit that it's pretty good. We've had it on the menu for 40 years and I never get tired of it! It's especially good if it's slightly warm. Murni More
