Description: Murni, the owner of the equally famous Murni's Houses and Tamarind Spa,...
Murni, the owner of the equally famous Murni's Houses and Tamarind Spa, opened Ubud's first real restaurant in 1974 and it remains first in the hearts of many people today.

The menu is varied and delicious and you can enjoy your drinks and meals and surf the Web using the free WiFi on one of four levels overlooking the river.

Level 1: When you enter Murni's Warung, the first thing you'll notice is the view of the greenery on the river's hillside. The steel cable in the foreground supports the bridge next door. On the way to your table, you'll walk past a display cabinet of cakes and pastries that you should take a look at -- just so you'll know how much room to save for dessert.

The restaurant is decorated with art from Murni's collection, including the small carvings high on the walls.

Level 2: The large statue of Ganesha, the Elephant God, that greets you in the Lounge Bar was commissioned in 1997 and completed in early 2002. He and Murni are about the same height. This is a great place to have cocktails or meet friends for a drink. You can also eat here.

Level 3: We generally reserve this level for parties, wedding receptions and birthday parties or when the Warung is overflowing. It can seat about 50-60 people.

Level 4: And finally you arrive just above the river. You'll enjoy the sound of flowing water with your candlelit dinner in the midst of exotic surroundings.

Murni's Warung Shop is a good place to wander in while you are waiting for your meal. And enjoy our books, Forty Delicious Years and Secrets of Bali.

What can I say that hasn't been said?

Gorgeous setting & delightful food. My travel companion & I went back twice in 3 days! The vegetarian options were a nice surprise & I enjoyed every bite on both trips.

I went here on a recommendation and have to say that I wasn't rapt in the food. I ordered a chicken curry dish and the chicken was dry. The surroundings were lovely, the staff were friendly and pleasant... but I went for the food.

Our driver told us this was the best Mi Goreng in Ubud and the chef didn't let him down. I mean the best ever. The setting was peaceful and the service was great. We loved it.

The restaurant is very expensive for what it is. The food was not really good and was like microwave reheated. It was by the way served very fast. Maybe a little bit too fast. So we could feel it was all already set. My fish was way overcooked and the Nasi Campur tasteless and filled with what looked like left... More

Located away from the main centre of Ubud, this place is nevertheless in a very picturesque spot, with several stories overlooking a deep river valley. It is an amazing view and feels very quiet and removed from the noise of Ubud. The service was excellent and attentive with very friendly staff. The menu had a good selection but is on... More

Had coffee and cake which were comparatively expensive for Ubud. Felt for first time in a week in Ubud we were slightly taken advantage of. We never received our bill or change after paying. This is such a small courtesy and a first for Bali, the amount was not worth a fuss. Had an evening meal, one lovely traditional marinated... More

The food was amazing, the service exceptional and the location beautiful. It is a little pricier than some others but definitely worth every cent. Highly recommended!

A friend and I stumbled upon Murni's Warung and I'm so glad we did! The food was very tasty and well-presented, and the drink were also awesome. The service was very consistent and the views were nice too. Unfortunately, there was construction happening at the time so the view wasn't the best but everything else was spot on!

We went to Murni's for a night out to dinner, and we're very pleased with the upper level dining area. We both agreed that our meals were the best food we have had in Bali. The staff were lovely and very attentive. We really enjoyed the view too! After dinner we had a look in the shop and came out... More
