Description: Murni, the owner of the equally famous Murni's Houses and Tamarind Spa...
Murni, the owner of the equally famous Murni's Houses and Tamarind Spa, opened Ubud's first real restaurant in 1974 and it remains first in the hearts of many people today. The menu is varied and delicious and you can enjoy your drinks and meals and surf the Web using the free WiFi on one of four levels overlooking the river. Level 1: When you enter Murni's Warung, the first thing you'll notice is the view of the greenery on the river's hillside. The steel cable in the foreground supports the bridge next door. On the way to your table, you'll walk past a display cabinet of cakes and pastries that you should take a look at -- just so you'll know how much room to save for dessert. The restaurant is decorated with art from Murni's collection, including the small carvings high on the walls. Level 2: The large statue of Ganesha, the Elephant God, that greets you in the Lounge Bar was commissioned in 1997 and completed in early 2002. He and Murni are about the same height. This is a great place to have cocktails or meet friends for a drink. You can also eat here. Level 3: We generally reserve this level for parties, wedding receptions and birthday parties or when the Warung is overflowing. It can seat about 50-60 people. Level 4: And finally you arrive just above the river. You'll enjoy the sound of flowing water with your candlelit dinner in the midst of exotic surroundings. Murni's Warung Shop is a good place to wander in while you are waiting for your meal. And enjoy our books, Forty Delicious Years and Secrets of Bali.

We picked this restaurant based on other positive reviews and were not disappointed. The view over the ravine was beautiful and the sounds of water running relaxing. Service was quick, efficient and cheerful. Many choices on menu and everything was delicious. The items in the shops were an added bonus and looking around allowed us to stay out of the... More

Lovely location and great service from friendly staff. Food was good but we've had some generously sized meals across Bali & I was a little disappointed with 2 small skewers for the satay & so we ended up ordering dessert which was delicious. The rain was coming down hard by the end of our meal and we gratefully accepted a... More

we only really discovered this place because we poked our nose in the shop at the front of the restaurant The restaurant itself is on 4 levels overlooking the ravine. We loved the lounge downstairs where we felt we were dining in an balinese antique shop. The atmosphere was perfect accompanied by the sound of running water. The food tasty... More

we called into this charming teahouse on our way to UBUD. Our driver recommended we have lunch here so we took him in with us and found ourselves amongst a beautiful tropical paradise setting. Rain, Bubbling brook and luscious rainforest. we sat on the lowest level and directly overlooked the stream and was amongst the forest. It was a charming... More

4 stories -- go for the lowest level by the river. The bar is the prettiest lounge I've ever seen, and so peaceful. The art is amazing.

I have eaten here probably twenty or more times in the past 20 years or more, but I probably won't bother to come here again. Unfortunately the food seems less tasty than before and simple dishes such as nasi campur or nasi goreng are pretty awful these days. The only thing that still tastes nice is the cake, pecan pie... Murni's is one of my favorite place in Ubud for 'Me' time. I love the lowest floor, the closest to the river. It give a real daydreaming ambiance, so quiet and tranquil.
