Description: Murni, the owner of the equally famous Murni's Houses and Tamarind Spa...
Murni, the owner of the equally famous Murni's Houses and Tamarind Spa, opened Ubud's first real restaurant in 1974 and it remains first in the hearts of many people today. The menu is varied and delicious and you can enjoy your drinks and meals and surf the Web using the free WiFi on one of four levels overlooking the river. Level 1: When you enter Murni's Warung, the first thing you'll notice is the view of the greenery on the river's hillside. The steel cable in the foreground supports the bridge next door. On the way to your table, you'll walk past a display cabinet of cakes and pastries that you should take a look at -- just so you'll know how much room to save for dessert. The restaurant is decorated with art from Murni's collection, including the small carvings high on the walls. Level 2: The large statue of Ganesha, the Elephant God, that greets you in the Lounge Bar was commissioned in 1997 and completed in early 2002. He and Murni are about the same height. This is a great place to have cocktails or meet friends for a drink. You can also eat here. Level 3: We generally reserve this level for parties, wedding receptions and birthday parties or when the Warung is overflowing. It can seat about 50-60 people. Level 4: And finally you arrive just above the river. You'll enjoy the sound of flowing water with your candlelit dinner in the midst of exotic surroundings. Murni's Warung Shop is a good place to wander in while you are waiting for your meal. And enjoy our books, Forty Delicious Years and Secrets of Bali.

This is a real gem. It has been growing with time for more than 30 years and always keeping a truly Balinese spirit as well as keeping up with modern trends and requirements. The satay & apple pie would have to be their signature dishes. Always the original recipes used and never a let down. Built on the side of... More

We arrive in Bali, drive to Ubud, enter our accommodation and the first thing we do is go to Murni's Warung for dinner. A view of the jungle ravine and sounds of the gamelan concert across the ravine to add to the atmosphere. We are in Bali again!! Would never miss the great food (moderate prices) from wonderful staff and... More

Murni’s Warung is an excellent authentic Balinese restaurant that easily lives up to its long-standing glowing reputation. Little if anything has changed from my first visit in 2003 -- as I entered this local institution last week, I was immediately transported into a decade past, beset by a veil of tranquility amid spine tingling natural light and shade. In fact,... More

We had our dinner here. Had the rendang (actually they did not have it, but there was some left of yesterday....), cap cay, satay lilit, nasi campur and nasi goring. The food was the best. Fresh, crispy vegetables and a rendang to die for...... Service is friendly, maybe a bit too funny at times, but this will not spoil the... More

Lovely views from this great multi level restaurant. Attentive staff serving tasty well priced food. The place is an Ubud institution and is now as good as it was 30 years ago. Excellent cocktails at reasonable prices are a bonus Very highly recommended for an Ubud experience.

Thank you for recommending Murni's Warung very highly. I'm pleased that you enjoyed the lovely views and the staff were attentive serving tasty well priced food. I guess we are an Ubud institution. We started 41 years ago and were the original real restaurant in Ubud and are still going strong. I hope you can come back. Murni More

Food was awesome. Nice little place with the sound of the river flowing nearby. The menu warns service might be slow but it wasn't.

We have had dinner @ Murni's attracted there by some comments and the perspective of a good Burger (yes, sometimes that helps !). The restaurant is looking nice and each floor decoration is different, all in Balinese style. We picked a table on the bottom dining room overlooking the river. Although a lot of tables were not occupied, the atmosphere... More
