Description: Murni, the owner of the equally famous Murni's Houses and Tamarind Spa...
Murni, the owner of the equally famous Murni's Houses and Tamarind Spa, opened Ubud's first real restaurant in 1974 and it remains first in the hearts of many people today. The menu is varied and delicious and you can enjoy your drinks and meals and surf the Web using the free WiFi on one of four levels overlooking the river. Level 1: When you enter Murni's Warung, the first thing you'll notice is the view of the greenery on the river's hillside. The steel cable in the foreground supports the bridge next door. On the way to your table, you'll walk past a display cabinet of cakes and pastries that you should take a look at -- just so you'll know how much room to save for dessert. The restaurant is decorated with art from Murni's collection, including the small carvings high on the walls. Level 2: The large statue of Ganesha, the Elephant God, that greets you in the Lounge Bar was commissioned in 1997 and completed in early 2002. He and Murni are about the same height. This is a great place to have cocktails or meet friends for a drink. You can also eat here. Level 3: We generally reserve this level for parties, wedding receptions and birthday parties or when the Warung is overflowing. It can seat about 50-60 people. Level 4: And finally you arrive just above the river. You'll enjoy the sound of flowing water with your candlelit dinner in the midst of exotic surroundings. Murni's Warung Shop is a good place to wander in while you are waiting for your meal. And enjoy our books, Forty Delicious Years and Secrets of Bali.

It's always great to hear from locals. I'm delighted that we have the best poppyseed cake in the World. I agree!! We actually opened in 1974 and were the first real restaurant in Ubud. Last year we celebrated 40 years with the publication of Forty Delicious Years. We're looking forward to the next 40 years! Hope to see you soon.... More

We wandered down from Penestanan for dinner unsure of what restaurants we would find. Found several set along the deep river ravine, and chose Murnis based on price and extensive menu options. They gave us the choice to look around all three levels and pick our own table. Our table overlooked the semi-lit jungle and hanging orchids. The interior was... More

I'm glad that you got a tour of the building and saw the great views and your table overlooked the semi-lit jungle and hanging orchids. I'm happy that you saw the rich wood carvings and stone statues. It is indeed very traditional Balinese and we intend to keep it that way. I'm delighted that you were very happy with your... More

It's great to have visitors from Poland. Welcome to Bali! I'm delighted that you enjoyed our very romantic, stylish Balinese restaurant. I'm pleased at the good choice of food and you liked our very friendly staff. They have all been with me for many years, some even since we opened over 41 years ago. If you get a chance to... More

Me and my girlfriend are not a fancy eater but we love ribs. As indonesian (and manadonese) the place is too cozy and pricey for us so my girlfriend was a littler resent at first. She just landed from manado and after a long ride from Denpasar to Ubud, and a little starved on that time. Then the foods arrived,... More

I am very glad that you and your girlfriend from Manado found the ribs and surroundings stunning. It's always good to hear from a local person who appreciates good Indonesian food. I'm also happy that the price was fine and that you recommend the place to other people. It's through recommendations like yours that we've been offering food and drink... More

We specifically came here after seeing the incredible trip advisor reviews. We could not have had a more opposite experience than the ones described in these other reviews. This is hands down the worst restaurant we've been to in Bali thus far (have been here for over a week so far). To begin, Murni's was out of both the appetizer... More

we hadn't enjoyed Indonesian food up until we tried it here. We gave it another try and didn't regret it at all. We had the roast duck, very flavorful. We had the nasi goreng, also much, much better than we'd had before. They had excellent grilled shrimp. I noticed they were famous for their pies so i tried their cashew... More

I am very pleased that you had great food, excellent service and the price was less than most other restaurants. The roast duck is indeed very flavorful - it is cooked for 24 hours under the ground and is Bali's most famous dish.. I'm delighted that the classic nasi goreng was also much, much better than you'd had before. It... More

For those that haven't been to Murni's whilst your in Ubud, you should. It's in a leafy, shady setting overlooking the Tjampuhan river just near the bridge...and a clear distance from the hectic markets nearby. Indonesian and western food, good quality, reasonably priced. We both had Cap Cay this time...probably best we've ever had.

In the side of Campuhan River makes this restaurant a nice place to have dinner and lunch with the loved ones. Big portion of the meals and tasteful food also makes Murni's Warung so special.
