Just lovely

The restaurant is not located on the city center, which makes it a really nice place to be. Unless recommended by a friend of ours, it is quite difficult to find because the front building looks unfinished. We walked here from the villa where we stay with friends in Nyuh Kuning. We enjoyed the changing 50,000 Rp lunch menu on a stormy afternoon. The service is at a relaxed pace, which allows for enjoying the tranquil setting. There were several Japanese couples and families eating the last time we were there, which is a good sign.

Have been a regular visitor to Kagemusha every time possible whenever I am in Ubud, but this was my first experience eating here after they moved to Nyuh Kuning. What I love most from Kagemusha is simply the calm atmosphere itself. Hence the name of 'Kagemusha' (double or shadow warrior in English), the main thing that I thought I will... More

It is a very quiet restaurant here. This is because it is far from the center. this is Japanese food. However, a visitor of much nationality enters. had impression. The owner is particular about ingredients. I ordered udon. It is the taste that is gentle by security. I like it. Try you if interested.

Sets for just 50.000 rupees. We've had kaki-age don, tempura udon and lemon juice. It was tasty and fresh. On the last menu page they put a list of products they use and if these are local or foreign products

There are a number of japanese restaurants in Ubud; I'm glad we chose Kagemusha. South of Monkey Forest and not easily found on a dark, rainy night, it was worth the effort. Excellent comfort food with a special mention for the Eggplant and Agedashi tofu dishes. All dishes were very good. Decor is bali rustic but pleasant and staff were... More

Had lunch here with the family. Very tasty bento and katsu. Miso was served for us also. The owner has started sourcing some if the food items from korea and china which has been explained on the menu cover. Additionally local fresh products are organic. On our visit the rains were strong. Shame they don't have a umbrella handy which... More

Kagemusha is my favorite Japanese restaurant in Ubud and eat here once or twice/month. They don't serve sushi, but have an extensive menu of Japanese comfort food. There's also a rotating list of specials, handwritten and posted on the wall. Tonight, the special of sardines with pickled plums was particularly delicious! Some of my regular favorites are the eggplant and... More

I used to live in Denpasar, and everytime I crave for chicken teriyaki I'd drive an hour to Ubud (plus the traffic jam in peak hours) just to get a seat by the rice field and enjoy the best chicken teriyaki in in Kagemusha. They also serve a really good agedashi tofu and grilled eggplant. Until now I am still... More

We eat at Kagemusha's every year we come (that's ten), two or three times. And I was so looking forward to the eggplant in ginger and soy as a starter... but this year I turned up to find they'd moved. Further away. They're now at the bottom of Nyuh Kuning but despite the distance, they're well worth the trip. I... More
