For all its hype and reputation, this place does not live up! I enjoyed the food I had (I recommend the veggie platter but the prawns I had for my main were very average!) and for the cheap price I shouldn't really complain. However, my friend ordered one of their "special" cocktails and it tasted like watery vodka! The ambiance... More

Do not get here for the food. It is ok but not spectacular although it is not pricey. But what is spectacular is the location and the ambiance. This place has so much charm and it is not changing (we have been here 5 times). And the draft beer is really cold!

We had a light lunch at Café Lotus and ate out the back overlooking the pond garden and temple. The service was great and our waiter was more than happy to stay and chat, telling us more about the relevance of the temple and grounds etc. The food was good and overall feel was relaxing - a nice place to... Food was lovely and the Indonesian dancing performance was an interesting bonus as I am not personally into seeking out temples, shows and museums per se. So I got a bit of culture while there :)

Read that this was a good place to eat in Ubud so after wandering around the lotus ponds one evening we dropped it. Sadly, this was the only place we ate in Ubud where the staff were disengaged and showing no sign of that special Balinese friendliness. The older waitress barely made eye contact and acted like she'd rather be... More

If you haven't been to Lotus Café to eat the smoked duck, you haven't been to Ubud - - the same goes for Ibu Oka's....

We went to Saraswati Temple but was a little disappointed that we could not enter the temple so we dropped by the cafe instead! Initially, i thought the service was a little slow, but when the food was served, we thought it was surprisingly good! We had fried bananas and omlette with mushrooms and cheese. It was not crowded when... More

Having not booked in advance, the only remaining table when we arrived was the bale patok, a private table directly in front of the stage ('for special occasions' or Ill prepared travelers) This table came with a 350.000 rupiah min/person, plus the ticket price. While expensive by Bali standards, we hit this minimum quite easily after two cocktails, an appetizer... More

Food reached the heights or barely adequate, shame as the vista across water lily ponds to the Balinese Dancing is beautiful, the waiter... well I guess he tried his best, it truly felt like "fast food.... but it wasn't. The cocktails.... a little light on flavour Not recommended, sorry!

The setting is fun and pretty - a great big lake and a beautiful temple at the back of the cafe! We went back several times and tried lots of different things off he menu, all of which were yummy. We had lunch in the sunshine and also went back for an authentic evening meal. Perfect place to have a... More
